While prayer is powerful, I feel it is the easy way out, just a way of soothing one's consciousness.
It is, after all, not that different from a non- believer saying "I pity those people", and then doing noting.

The question is though, what CAN we do?
i think what she's saying is something like this....

If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? (James 2:15-16)

of course prayer is more powerful than we know. yet 'is there more we can do' is not a bad question, is it?

Voice of the Martyrs comes to mind, among others....

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

For the cause of Christ

Im am here reading this article, tears streaming down my cheeks. Folks what are we as Americans going to do? We have to put someone in office that will have the task of stopping this. How can we let this pass? How come we are doing nothing? Its like the holocaust, how long will America sit on its hands and let this happen? This rips my heart apart.

Muslims Slaughter Christian Missionaries - Where Are The Protests?
Thats really terrible! But I think you cant compare it with the Holocaust. If we are honest we read this in the bible that persecution is for those who follow Jesus. What is more terible is, that millions of unborn children are killed worldwide without, and also in the "christian" called countrys! It seems that you country will become a president who is on the side of the people who legalize it to kill unborn children. I live in a country in which you cant say anything against it, without receiving hate and hear it is no human beeing what is killed unborn. This is terrible!
We can pray for the persecutet brothers and sisters and for the goverments which can stop to kill unborn children!

It's not just Christians it's happening to, it's others too.

There was a news article just recently about Syria and the city of Aleppo being
obliterated by the terrorists, Russia etc.

The city has been sealed off so people can't escape, the people are having to
resort to scrambling around for food water etc. One young boy took an item of
food he found. The IS terrorists found him, held him down and cut off his hand.

They inflict the Islamic laws on everybody, i.e. thieves have their hands chopped off
no matter their age or that they are starving and orphened etc.

These terrorists are a festering sore on a global scale, millions of lives are
being ruined and destroyed on a biblical scale.

The world is in dire need of Christ, yet we will go to worship today or tomorrow, socialize with fellow Christians, study a few scriptures, sing a few songs, lift a few prayers, then go home and return to our daily routine. We will lift a few prayers, spend a lot of time bickering about a presidential election, or who has the correct doctrine until our next worship time. My friends, is this what God expects of us? I don't think so.

I challenge each of you, along with myself, to put some knees into, and some legs onto our prayers. Listen carefully. God is calling. We must be willing to go.

To go would be suicide, but we can pray and give.

Well, I might be stupid, but I don't see how I can stop people in another part of the world from persecuting/ kidnapping/ killing people.

Speaking of Aleppo, they will be collecting money for it here soon .
... according to the newspaper, during the last collection 1/4 of the money went to administration....

It is heartbreaking to here that Christians are being tortured and killed for there faith. Saddly it comes as no suprise the Bible warns us that Christians will face persecaution.

John 15: [SUP]18 [/SUP]“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. [SUP]19 [/SUP]If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[SUP][a][/SUP] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. [SUP]21 [/SUP]They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.

More Christians have been killed for their faith in the past 100 years than in any other time in history. We are all part of one body 1 Corinthians 12 [SUP]26 [/SUP]If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

We are also told to mourn with those who mourn so I feel compeled to pray for the persecauted Chirstians. I thank God for the witness of these Christians who willing to suffer and die for their faith. I am praying that through there Witness people will come to faith in Christ. I am reminded how Saul (Paul) was a bystander when Stephen was killed. I am also praying that God will give persecuted Christians the strength to persevere.

There are a number of organisations that support persecauted Christians in the UK Open doors. Prayer is vital but on occasions writing to politicians highlighting what is happening to Christinas. Open doors has run campaigns were postcards have been sent to those in power where Christians are being persecuted sometimes these poscards have resulted in Christians being released from prison.

We are also encouraged to pray for our political leaders 1 Timothy 2: 1I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

The question is not so much what can we do,but what are we willing to do?

anything but pray for some apparently

people can look around and see that the government...ALL of them in any country...have done basically nothing whatsoever to help Christians...yet muslims are being let in and have their own ghettos in countries in Europe now

I was sent a vid of what is happening in Paris...it is unbelievable...youths from Africa...muslims...have taken over entire sections of the city and the police will not even venture in...no women...all men...and they act like they did back in Africa...fighting...urinating and defecating anywhere...mattresses all over to sleep on...

again, this is happening all over Europe...things are hushed up...I don't think a person who vaguely asks what can we do...and shrugs...actually wants to do a thing...but if and when it comes to North America, they will respond with How did this happen?

well, it happened because Jesus said watch and pray and you were too busy watching TV and movies and saying pray is ok, but what can we do

I honestly and truly cannot fathom the mind of those who call themselves saved and yet think prayer is some kind of patch when it is actually the most powerful force on earth

governments are not going to do more than what they have already done...

one world government is the aim...and that means everybody but the kings and queens are nothing but a number and fodder for the fire

Christianity is a threat to that

Woah ,

This is basically what is going on.

America, and the church better get a clue.

Only God can turn this thing around.

The destiny of the middle east is sealed.

America is apparently allowed to choose hers.

I think we all know, barring a massive sweep of God's power and revival,America will no longer exist as we now know it.

europe , africa, middle east...they have been seeped in wars and rumors of wars from forever until now

even WWI and WWII, vietnam war and others never came TO North America other than in body bags and $$$

I really think some think it won't happen...but it is already happening

revival? what for? so everyone can sway in church and feel good? I know that is not what you mean and pardon my lack of faith in Christians, but a good kick in the posterior...a wake up call...a reality check...coffee break...whatever...but see, senses are dulled and filled stomachs are like whaaaaaa?

America as you knew no longer exists and Canada is a socialist country..

when I read, not just here, but basically all over both social media and news sites, it seems that it will be the intervention of God if the clinton machine does not come to power

I don't know where I want to live if that happens...

it's past serious..

most so called Christian TV shows beg for money half the time and entertain the other half

I cannot speak for you since we are in different countries. But in this country Christians ought to be standing up and protesting until something is done. Ive been asking around to find out how or who we talk to to start a movement to force something to be done. We sat on our hands when the Holocaust happened. We said it would never happen again. But it is.America needs to stand up and make something happen. A lot of that may have to do with who we put in office next.

Wow you and I are so kindred spirits. Totally agree with all you are saying. And there is a big difference between throwing up ,a hail Mary prayer and intercession. People today don't know the difference. They also dont know what revival means. Read history, about the circuit riding preachers, preachers standing on hay bales the great revivalists. Revival wasn't about us feeling good,it was about sinners coming to the Lord and beginning a new life. On down through history and they would have diner on the ground and all night prayer service. We've lost the art of intercessory prayer and true revival, not man made but heaven sent.

cool! must be a Canadian thing, ay? :) I think most Canadians are more interested in history than the average American is..which explains alot...my husband is really into history...it was one of the subjects he taught actually

the area in which I am currently living...apparently there was a 'real' revival over a hundred years ago...and of course after that came in the demonic nonsense...even had a local coven going on at one time and for all I know it still is...I do know I sometimes have to pray against oppression and even depression...it's 'in the air'...

and revival, if real, is not about feeling good is right

there was a book I read, years ago, and I don't remember the name of the man...he was English and it was during WWII..Hitler was in full destructive swing and the English were terrified he was going to cross the English channel and invade and by all rights he should have done so and could have done so

this man, and others of like mind, got together and interceded regarding this impending invasion and Hitler never did invade...I don't remember all the details...instead he wasted his army in Russia

the books goes into alot of detail and it is a true narritive...we see this with Elijah and even David praying for his son with Bathsheba that was conceived through adultery

I don't know why God bends down and takes our prayers or how it all works...we also have the story of Daniel...who received a visit from Gabriel...and the angel told him that God sent the answer to his prayers right away but his prayers were hindered

“Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.” Daniel 10

so, apparently we also battle against unseen evil forces in waiting for response from God...intercession covers this type of thing I believe..it's not letting go

So without being disrespectful, what are people who posted on here going to do.
Most cant even be bothered to pray see the example below - hardly anyone responded.
God does answer prayer, it is a powerful weapon. God doesn't actually need our prayer He
can do what He wants without out, but for reasons unknown God chooses to work in
partnership with us.

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...ristian-being-persecuted-india-right-now.html

Will you give, will you sign petitions (I have), if there is no petition will you start an
on line petition. Will you pray, will you support your church in its efforts to take action?

Recently several members of my church went to the migrant camps in Calais to see
for themselves what is happening first hand. This was in conjunction with a Christian
charity. They brought back true reports of what is happening and not just the glorified
news of TV and the church is now praying and giving.

Please dont get me wrong I realise this is a hard situation it almost seems impossible to do
anything but even individuals can pray, give to appropriate charities etc.

I attend a small church but it supports numerous missionaries. In the past couple months we have had missions from Egypt and
Venezuela. They of course bring news of what is happening in these areas. So I know we are supporting missions when we give and also Samaritans Purse. Yesterday they mentioned sending shoe boxes of toys to children overseas. Our church and pastor are very active in giving and knowing what is going on in the world. We also support charities to Jewish people. As I mentioned my sister is headed to Uganda, this week actually. I have signed many petitions from FB that have been posted. If I knew of what else to do I would do it. We cannot, and should not sit back while people are being exterminated in such brutal ways. God has blessed us to bless and help others.

Thank you and your church family for caring. We too attend a small church that is very much involved in missionary ministry. We have sent and/or financially supported missionaries, including our youth (14-18 years old) disaster recovery team, to central America, Cuba, Asia, Africa, Haiti, and other places. We also have an ongoing disaster projects in LA and FL. Those who are not able to travel, participate in several local service ministries. It is through these ministries that many, even in our local area, experience the Love of God for the first time, and actually come to Christ.

God bless each and every one of you who are involved in Christian missionary ministries. You are always in our prayers.

Each and everyone is called, some to the mission field and everyone else to those surrounding us. I felt called into ministry as a young teen and it was because of a man named Keith Green that I realized God was calling. It was his song "Jesus Commands Us to Go" that convicted me and started me in ministry.

Jesus commands us to go
But we go the other way
So He carries the burden alone
While His children are busy at play
Feeling so called to stay

Oh, how God grieves and believes
That the world can't be saved unless the ones He's appointed obeys
His command and His stand for the world
That He loved more than life, oh He died, and He cries out tonight

Jesus commands us to go
It should be the exception if we stay
It's no wonder we're moving so slow
When His church refuse to obey
Feeling so called to stay

Oh how God comes as He starts the great judgment of fire
So He can gain, His greatest desire
'Cause He knows that the souls of the lost
They can only be reached through us, we're His hands and His feet
