If God came to you and said the following day He was going to bring you home to glory, and you could do anything you want on your final night on Earth, what would it be? It could be absolutely anything and God would make it happen.

I'd want to be with my family and friends at a private U2 concert on a warm, beautiful evening at the beach. Listening to Where the Streets Have no Name while feeling the soft ocean breeze would be beyond awesome. How about you?

Sounds like a good night, but I would have to replace U2 with someone else, not sure who, but not Bono.

I'd love to say that I'd have a big celebration with friends and family while I joyfully waited for the Lord. All my life I told God I was ready to go anytime, not in a morbid way, but because everyone always talks about the glories of heaven.

I had a time in my life where I was facing an emergency surgery, and I was fine with the thought of going to heaven the entire time, even as they were wheeling me down the hall. And then suddenly, just as they were about to put me under... I totally pulled a Hezekiah (Isaiah 38:5) and, at the last minute, begged God for more time.

I am thoroughly convinced (though I could be wrong) that God would have taken me during that procedure if I hadn't asked otherwise, and to be honest, I have mixed feelings about that.

On one hand, of course I'm grateful that God gave me more time with the people I love.

But on the other hand... I'm totally disappointed with myself in that I might have had a chance to be with the Lord... and completely chickened out.

I'll fly to where my family is. Write a gospel song while on the plane and pray that it lasts for many many generations. The rest of the time I spend on the plane, I'll probably write a blog to thank and appreciate all the people I had the pleasure to know and be friends with. I'll publish it as soon as I land. Then, send a text to my first love and maybe tell him everything I wish I said sooner. Then, spend my last hours on earth hugging my parents and my siblings until I fall asleep.

I'd gather all my family and record all of us having an excellent time for a few hours, that way they would have the memory to watch whenever. I'd quickly type my life story. And then I'd spend the rest of the time with my kids on the beach talking to them about every little thing they are yet to face and how much I love them. I'd pray with them and tell them it is time for me to go to heaven and peacefully go.

Don't be disappointed in yourself, Sister; God is well pleased with your love for Him, and He fully understands its only natural for us to want more time here on this side of Heaven because its what we know. Seems like you use your time here very wisely by proclaiming your love for God, and more importantly, God's love for the world, so you're in a good place right now in God's eyes. God bless you!

Santa Clause with an assault rifle is telling me to see a shrink? I guess Abraham, Moses and Saul should have seen one also. Quit raining on this little parade we call fellowship and go deliver presents.

It's probably wise to obey anyone who's carrying an assault rifle (or bring the firepower to match) ;)


... but seriously, scripture tells us to test everything, also possible epiphanies. It also tells us to always be prepared for the end, so God doesn't need to come down and tell me again. The 'shrink' comment was said in jest, sure, there are plenty of people who have such hallucinations, but you're probably not one of them.

I'd want to find some horses somewhere to borrow and go riding again, and this time take my kids with me. Nothing better than being on the back of a horse except for going Home.

I'd ask God if there was anything that he wanted me to do or anyone he wanted me to help in my final day. If not, I'd say; 'Why the delay, take me now' :)

Help me get this straight: It's NOT ok for us to playfully analogize about the op's scenario... but it IS ok for you to jest that some on this board have hallucinations (but probably not Utah] :eek:... and it IS ok for your avatar to represent a militant Santa brandishing a weapon... and it IS ok for you advise US to test everything with scripture.... or else WE are the ones in need of a shrink. And your intent is righteous. :rolleyes: Do I have that correct?
