I don't get why the adults don't just buy their own candy. Leave the kids candy alone. You have a driver's license and your own paychecks. Go to the store and buy some kit-kats. :p Your kids can't go to the store alone, and most kids have no money. They have so few freedoms as it is. This is their only candy source all year, let them keep their candy I say!

Also think about this: walking 3 blocks on their short little legs to trick-or-treat is the equivalent to us walking 6 blocks with our long legs. I say they earned the rights to keep it all. :D

Good to see i'm not the only one thinking stealing from kids isn't the right way to behave.

My husband and I don't do Halloween with our kids, but we'll hand out candy so's we can eat the rest. In a town with about...10 kids total...that leaves lots of candy for us :D

As a parent, I have spent money, time, and energy on the costumes. I have also walked with my kid throughout the neighborhood, and I have to paw through the bucket to make sure everything is fine when we get back. Not to mention that I share EVERYTHING with this little person—including my own body for almost 10 months (yeah, you read that right). A few pieces of candy is not too much to ask. And I had better not have raised a kid who doesn't want to share!

If the kid wants to share, (and most would) that is up to them. :) I used to share with my parents.

What I was talking about is when the parents take the candy when their child isn't looking and they do it behind their backs.

I didn't like when they took my favorite bars without asking, and over time the bag slowly became predominantly candy that I didn't like as much as kit-kats.... xD

Growing up there used to be an elderly man on my street who every Halloween would hand out one giant candy bar per kid with what looked like printed out bible page copies stuck on them with rubber bands. Every kid liked trick or treating there cause they knew he gave out big bars. :)

Thank you for clarifying! Children should share, and parents should demonstrate proper respectful (as well as silly and fun) behavior.

We never trick or treated, but our church has a harvest festival every year with games, cotton candy, etc, where we pass out tracts and Bibles, share testimonies, and such.

I refuse to allow my nieces and nephews to participate in the holiday and when i have children i will not allow them to either. just like i will not tell them the myth of santa clause of the toothfairy or the easter bunny and so on....
I can completely respect this and if you feel convicted, kudos to you for sticking to your beliefs.

My church turns Halloween into a community outreach. They have a Pumpkin Patch (where people can purchase pumpkins inexpensively) and sponsor "Trunk O' Treat", in which church members decorate their cars with autumn-themed, friendly (not scary) decorations, or even kid-friendly Christian themes, and all children (from the church and the community) are invited to dress up and trick o' treat from trunk to trunk in a safe, Christ-centered environment.

Over the years, God has touched many people's hearts through this even and several others that some Christians would call too worldly... but... this is what my church feels led to do.

P.S. LOVED the candy-trading chart... HANDS off anything chocolate!!! ;)

Get out there and find yourself a home church. They need you as much as you need them. :)
I have found a home church its just not "active" in the community and honestly i don't agree with the theology. However it is a great church and i enjoy the fellowship

I am thrilled that your church has found away to use the holiday to reach out to the public and the community.

For me (because i came to Christ out of witchcraft) like with most "religious" holidays i see the rituals that most people follow and i know what they truly mean. So i find it difficult for me to participate in most holidays. However i do not condemn those that do choose to participate in them instead i wish you a safe holiday and fun filled evening......

By the way i am the same with the ritualistic practice of christmas and easter and many others

and with that background, I would feel the same way. I appreciate your attitude for other believers who choose to celebrate in a way you don't personally agree with.

I can appreciate what you are saying about this particular "holiday". I hate it for those reasons and for reasons of my own. My son and I did not do Trick or Treat. We would go do something fun elsewhere until it was over.

So I assume we're not all getting together for a midnight screening of Rosemary's Baby on Halloween then?

You said you didn't want those *poke

I heard a rumor that the original name of that movie was Baby Jim

You need glasses my friend,or yer' eyeballs need deliverance (and I don't mean a visit from Jimmy P. & the gang)

I said those were the candies I was KEEPING,silly man.

Laffin' my buns off @ Baby Jim...ok,I gotta admit that was funny.

*shaves yer' beard off whilst you slumber & glues it to yer forehead!*
