1. What's your favorite kind of cake?

i'm not a big sweets kind of person, but i would guess it's this thing called an "italian creme cake" (formerly known as an italian wedding cake) that my favorite cake place makes. i have tried to replicate it, but i still can't quite touch it. or a coconut cake. i'm also a big fan of tiramisu (not the most cake-like cake) and carrot cake.

2. We all know bacon is wonderful, but what's your favorite way to eat it? Alone? In something else? On a sandwich?

on a BLTA sandwich (the A stands for avocado), with eggs, or bacon caramel.

3. What's the best birthday you've ever had?

hard to say. i had a really fun one in 1990 (i think that was the year). i received a surprise birthday of sorts. the opening day of camden yards in baltimore was on my birthday. and i spent it with my dad, watching a double header and reminiscing. watching games with my dad has always been one of my favorite things. : )

another special birthday was spending it on some sort of impromptu road trip down the cali coast in a mustang convertible and lots of stops, food, play and sunshine. no talk about birthday, just fun and adventure.

i'm not someone who likes to make a big deal about my birthday in general, and i kind of shrug of formal attempts to celebrate it.

4. Favorite gift you gave or received for Christmas this year?

unconditional love, acceptance, and several belly laughs.

5. What's your preferred bug-killing method?

my preferred method is letting someone else get bug guts near them instead. second best is the vacuum cleaner: incredibly non-fussy and no guts.

1. What's your favorite kind of cake?

I like buttercream cakes. I know that frosting is very sweet but it's so good!

2. We all know bacon is wonderful, but what's your favorite way to eat it? Alone? In something else? On a sandwich?

I like bacon with eggs. Very simple.

3. What's the best birthday you've ever had?

None of them really stand out for me. I guess because they've all been really special. My mom is a single mom and even till this day she makes sure to get me a cake, a gift and takes me to dinner wherever I want. She's a great mom. I've always been close to my family and if my relatives didn't come see me from where they live, they call me. This is gonna sound so cheesy but I guess my best birthday was my actual birth day because that's when I was blessed with such a wonderful family :)

4. Favorite gift you gave or received for Christmas this year?

I got a very nice edition of "To Kill A Mockingbird" It's leather-bound and has beautiful artwork. I love it!

5. What's your preferred bug-killing method?

Um...stomping on them? Hitting them with a rock? I have no idea. I don't really go hunting for bugs haha. But when they're around me, I slap them.

OOH, new questions!

1. What is the best prank you have ever pulled on someone?

I just recently turned a co-worker's entire office into a scene from Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, complete with a floor covered in (paper) waves, shark fins poking out, and giant octopus tentacles reaching up the walls onto the ceiling.

2. What is the best topping combination for a hot dog?

I think my favorite might be the Chicago Dog. (Minus the tomatoes.)

3. If you had to make a public, monastic type vow in your life ( i.e. chastity, silence, poverty) what type of vow could/would you make?

When I think of monastic type vows, I realize that God really needs to call us to take any sort of extraordinary vow, because keeping them requires supernatural strength. I could take a vow of chastity if I was called to it. (As I am now.) I honestly am coming up with nothing... My brain won't even give me more examples to draw from!

4. If a friend entered you into some type of food eating contest, which type do you think you could win?

Probably rice cakes. I seem to be able to pack away entire packages of those things without feeling full. O_O

5. If you could spend a year in a discipleship program under any pastor/teacher today, who would you want to learn under?

Frances Chan or Matt Chandler.

Talking about monastic vows... I heard of this one guy who joined a monastery where they had to take a vow of silence. They were only allowed to say two words per year.

At the end of the first year this new guy came before the abbot to say his two words. He said "Food cold." Then he turned and walked out.

At the end of the second year he again stood before the abbot. He said, "Bed hard." Then he turned and left.

At the end of the third year he said, "I quit."

The abbot said, "I can't say I'm surprised. You've done nothing but complain since you got here."

1. What is the best prank you have ever pulled on someone?
I'm fairly terrible at pranks. When I was in college, my friends stole my stuffed unicorn and tortured it (took pictures and posted them on Facebook of them hanging her out a window, pretending to throw her in the toilet, making her do calculus, etc) and they required for me to buy them candy before giving her back. I did, but to get them back, I blew up balloons and put them in their dorm room. It wasn't that full...there were maybe only 10 balloons. And they teased me, like "Ooooh what are we gonna do with all these balloons? How awful!" -_-

2. What is the best topping combination for a hot dog?
I'm not really a hot dog fan, but I like it simple: ketchup and maybe onions.

3. If you had to make a public, monastic type vow in your life ( i.e. chastity, silence, poverty) what type of vow could/would you make?
I don't know if I could. There's no way I could do silence (I couldn't go without talking or singing), I want to get married someday, and I don't really want poverty either...I suppose I'm selfish, and/or don't know many other types of monastic vows, but if I had to chose of those three I would chose poverty.

4. If a friend entered you into some type of food eating contest, which type do you think you could win?
I'm a REALLY slow eater, so any food contest would have to be the amount and not how hungrily/fast I could eat it. But hands down, ice cream. Or pizza. Or bread (rolls, toasted bread from Italian restaurants, etc). Or Life cereal. Or cheese fries from Steak n Shake.

So I like food.

5. If you could spend a year in a discipleship program under any pastor/teacher today, who would you want to learn under?
Matt Chandler or John Piper

The first (and only) time I've had a Chicago dog was in Chicago. :) And it WAS good. I'm pretty sure I just scraped the relish off onto my sister's hot dog because I don't like pickles, but I didn't ask for it without it because I'm pretty sure it's offensive to the Chicago people to ask to leave an ingredient off on a Chicago hot dog (not even kidding).

So I decided to do something obnoxious and run through this thread and copy down every question that's been asked and answer them all at once. I wound up with 185 questions O_O

Since I should probably get some sleep tonight, I answered the first 100 and will get the other 85 later. You're all in luck because after tomorrow night, you will likely be able to write my autobiography, especially with such useful information as whether or not I wear socks at home. You're welcome, world.

In Christian circles? Probably Mark Driscoll. In general circles, probably this guy who goes to my church who used to be the keyboardist for a band called Quarterflash, and also played keyboard on tour with artists like Elton John, Sammy Hagar, and Rick Springfield. He’s also apparently been nominated for two Grammy’s in the past and has one an American Music Award.

Sleeping in, but not too late. Eating a light breakfast outside while it’s sunny but cool. Spending the rest of the morning reading. Eat lunch outside and take a walk in the early afternoon. Maybe go to a park and swing on some swings. Spend the afternoon walking around downtown visiting different little shops and things. Grabbing dinner at a local place in town. Seeing a movie maybe, and then going swimming when it gets dark. Heading home, warming up, getting in comfortable clothes, and spending some time stargazing and talking about life before heading to sleep.

That would be the most perfect day I can imagine.

55. In school, who was your favorite teacher and what did they teach? Why were they your favorite?
I would say my favorite teacher was a high school English teacher named Miss Bennett. She was this short woman who was really high energy and really cared about her students. She was passionate in her teaching and the homework she assigned to us was always really meaningful. She was nothing but an encouragement to me while I was in her classes and I always looked forward to the discussions we would have during class.

56. Are you more likely to suffer from a lack of energy or too much energy?
Definitely a lack of energy.

57. Are you more likely to startle (scare) someone, or be the one startled?

Hopefully being active in church, discipling men, and finding ways to keep busy.

59. Are you easily embarrassed, and what happens when you are?
If I’m with an unfamiliar crowd, and especially an unfamiliar crowd that I want to be a part of, I tend to get embarrassed more easily. When I am I blush bigtime and do my best to act casual haha.

60. Do you attend church? If so, tell us about your church and what you like about it.
I do attend church. My church is absolutely amazing. They make an effort to do things well regarding the service so there’s never any awkwardness, they keep things simple and consistent, and the Gospel is threaded all throughout every service. The pastors are really kind, friendly, genuine people. When you have a conversation with them, you walk away knowing that they genuinely care about you, and that is evident in how good they are at remembering people’s names even after a long period of time. Also, the people in the congregation in general love spending time with each other. I feel like there are so many ways to be able to spend time with others in the congregation and build relationships. What I love most is that they really make a concerted effort to be biblical in all that they say and do and they aren’t afraid to confront issues head on, but with a lot of prayer, grace, and love. I value that a lot.

61. If you could be any comic strip character, which would you be, and why?

I don’t know if I had one specific book that I loved, but I really liked to read the Boxcar Children series as a kid.

64. What was the last concert you attended?
Wow, it’s been awhile. This doesn’t really count, but I went to the Gospel Coalition National Conference two years ago and Keith and Kristyn Getty played for all of the services. On a smaller scale, a really good local band called Coyote Talk played at a local bar here last year and I went with some friends to that.

65. If the Lord called you into the mission field, what type of work would you ideally like to do?
I’d love to somehow be a part of ending sex trafficking in some part of the world.

66. At what age did you leave home & venture off on your own and/or what were the reason(s) you did?
Well, I wasn’t home much during my last few years of college. I moved back home after graduating and a little over a year ago I bought a house in town. So I moved out but didn’t necessarily venture off as I work with my dad.

67. Other than the Bible what is the most thought provoking and/or inspiring book you've ever read?
Probably Don’t Waste Your Life and Desiring God by John Piper, as well as The Reason for God by Tim Keller.

Probably my laptop.

69. What is/was the worst job you've ever worked at or position you've held & how long did you work there?
Probably this factory job that I got. I was hired through an employment agency who didn’t tell me what my hours would be like or anything. I abruptly found out that I would be working 8-hour shifts 7 days a week, which did not work for me at all. On day 2, I was put in a press that required me to bend at the waist over 1,200 times in my shift. It hurt for me to even stand the next day, so I quit and found employment elsewhere.

70. If you were training for a fight, who would you rather have train you or in your corner to mentor you and why?
Definitely Jason Bourne.

71. Do you prefer hot summer weather or cold winter weather, and why?

Freezies!

73. Name a modern convenience that you own, but would be able to do without.
A television.

74. Finish this sentence: it wouldn't be summer without (doing/seeing/enjoying) _______________.
Baseball!

75. What is more important to you: being merciful, or being fair/just? Why?
Being merciful for sure. I would rather show someone mercy than make them pay, but I think it depends on the situation.

76. What object(s) is/are to your immediate right?
A super old rocker/recliner chair that belonged to my great aunt.

77. What's the most rewarding thing you've ever done for somebody?
I’m not sure. I always find it rewarding whenever I get the opportunity to encourage someone with the gospel.

78. Have you ever found a really odd item while walking somewhere? What was it?
I have been known among friends to pick up pennies and other change off the ground whenever I see it. After all, if you think about how many pennies are probably on the ground in the world, I have to think it’s a lot. Why not pick them up? Well you could imagine my elation when I saw a DOLLAR BILL laying on the ground. But wouldn’t you know, when I picked it up I quickly discovered that someone had smeared poo all of the other side of it. It’s still a hilarious memory for some friends, but that stole some of my trust in the good of humanity that I’ll never get back :p

79. What Bible verse would you say most applies to your life right now?
“Who have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:25-26

80. A favorite movie scene: What is it and why do you like it so much?
I’d say any of the battles scenes in the Lord of the Rings movies. It always moves me a lot to think about how our lives tend to be a battle like that, and how we know that Christ is going to win in the end.

81. What 3 things make you feel loved and accepted by a friend or significant other?
Taking time to hear me out about a problem. Giving me a hug. Saying something encouraging.

82. What song was most recently stuck in your head?
“Starry Night” by Chris August

83. Describe your notion of romance.
Well, I think love is ultimately giving of yourself to another person. So my notion of romance would be being tenderly supportive and caring, delighting in her in as many ways as I possibly can, and speaking well of her when I’m with other people.

84. Name something you eat (or drink) purely because it’s good for you.
I’m going to go with the most obvious choice—water!

85. What is God currently teaching you?
He has been teaching me a lot about the importance of love toward people who are hard to love and gratitude in moments that I’m not typically grateful for.

86. What would be worse for you, and why: Getting lost alone in the wilderness, or getting trapped in an elevator full of people for a long amount of time?
Getting trapped in an elevator full of people for sure.

87. Quick! What item(s) are to your immediate left?
A lamp, empty cups, books, bills, remote controls, and a candle all on a side table.

88. Do you have any 4th of July "traditions"? If so, what? If not, why?
Other than figuring out plans to go see fireworks at the last minute, not really haha.

89. Which is more annoying to you: somebody repeatedly spelling your name wrong, or pronouncing it wrong?
Probably spelling it wrong, although I would just feel bad for them if they had that problem :p

90. Would you rather dance or sing in front of a large audience?
I wouldn’t be excited about either, but I’d definitely choose singing.

91. What song makes you feel like dancing?
Happy by Pharrell

92. What song makes you feel like you're in high school again?
Be My Escape by Relient K

93. What song touches your soul?
Worlds Apart by Shawn McDonald

94. What song makes you feel wistful?
I’m not sure that there’s a song that makes me feel this particular way. If I think of one I’ll get back to you.

95. What song makes you happy?
You and I by Chris August

96. Who is your favorite actor and/ or actress?
Emma Stone—my only celebrity crush

97. What are some of your favorite song lyrics?
Would we with ink the ocean fill;
And were the skies of parchment made;
If every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry,
nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky.

98. If you were a flavor, what would it be and why?
Probably grape—it’s kind of a mellow flavor.

99. Have you ever gone puddle-jumping in the rain?
I’ve jumped in puddles before, but I’m not sure if it was every actually raining at the time.

100. What is your one guilty pleasure?
Swinging on swing sets!

Try copying and pasting and then answering all of them :p

In truth, though, I was a little less serious in the first half and got more serious as I went along, so my answers probably got a bit more boring.

I think I'm going to do the same thing that ChandlerFan did, only because I'm fairly new to the site and missed all these questions when they were new. So... here we go!

---

1. What movie deserves a sequel?
At this point, all the well-known movies already have one, so I'll go back a few years and say "Rat Race" needs a sequel. I thought that movie was hilarious!

2. What one toy would you like to throw repeatedly at a brick wall?
Well, if the word is "repeatedly", then I'd have to say a bouncy ball of some sort...

3. What is one thing you always wanted as a kid, but never got?
I was pretty spoiled as a kid (in full admittance), so I probably got a lot of what I wanted.

4. Where do you not mind waiting?

I'm much more spur-of-the-moment when it comes to this sort of question, so I'm not really sure what a planned out "perfect day" would be.

The leadership members that I've spoken to have been helpful in getting me through some tough times over the past couple years, and for that I am very thankful! I wouldn't really say that I have a real "friendship" with any of the members, but the few that i'm familiar with, we are cordial in passing. You said hold on
But it feels like I'm slipping away

I won't let you down
The words you said to me
It's echoing the sound
Of what would never be

I'm standing here alone
The memories remain
The same familiar home
But nothing looks the same
And I'm standing here alone
Can't tell if I'm awake
Reality is gone
In a dream I can't escape

You said hold on
But I feel like I'm slipping away
You said hold on
But it feels like I'm slipping away

I'm getting through it now
I guess it's plain to see
That everything I am
Is not everything you need
And I'm standing here alone
Can't tell if I'm awake
Reality is gone
In a dream I will escape

You said hold on
But I feel like I'm slipping away
You said hold on
But it feels like I'm slipping away

And I'm standing here alone
Can't tell if I'm awake
And it feels like i'm slipping away

Reality is gone
In a dream I can't escape
And it feels like i'm slipping away"

This is not really a prank; more like a burglar alarm sort of. I put this on my coffee table before I leave out everyday...

2. What is the best topping combination for a hot dog?

Chili cheese dog with a steamed bun.

3. If you had to make a public, monastic type vow in your life ( i.e. chastity, silence, poverty) what type of vow could/would you make?

There was this monk once who took a vow of silence. At the end of his first year the monastery allowed him two words to say out loud. He said "HARD BED". He continued with his vow and the next year the he was allowed another couple of words. "HORRIBLE FOOD" was his choice. Third year rolled by and his choice of words was "I QUIT!" The Cardinal said "well good, you've done nothing but complain since you've been here". I've got nothing on this - matter of fact the whole reason I even answered any of this was so I could tell that joke. I've waited 20 years....

4. If a friend entered you into some type of food eating contest, which type do you think you could win? Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies. Who cares who wins.

5. If you could spend a year in a discipleship program under any pastor/teacher today, who would you want to learn under?

Charles Stanley or the Pope.

1. What is the best prank you have ever pulled on someone?

I was an RA in college and had some pretty rowdy residents who I decided needed to be taught a lesson. So I actually broke open some cold capsules and filled them with grape kool-aid powder. I then placed the capsules in the shower heads in the floor's shower room. Three of the guys managed to get their skin dyed purple when they tried to shower.

2. What is the best topping combination for a hot dog?

chili, cheese, and mustard

3. If you had to make a public, monastic type vow in your life ( i.e. chastity, silence, poverty) what type of vow could/would you make?

I could come closest to making the vow of poverty of the 3 mentioned, but I think I could also possible do some vow of abstinence of some type of material good in life.

4. If a friend entered you into some type of food eating contest, which type do you think you could win?

There was a time I could have easily ate my weight in pizza. Now it would be more likely something like potatoes.

5. If you could spend a year in a discipleship program under any pastor/teacher today, who would you want to learn under?

Tommy Nelson or Matt Chandler

1. If you had a time machine and set it to the past, to a biblical time, where and when would you go?
To when Jael killed Sisera with a tent stake. Apparently I remind people of her, so maybe we would get along. :D

2. If you had a time machine and set it to the past, but NOT to a biblical time, yet still before your birth, where and when would you go?
During WWII. To occupied France.

3. If you had a time machine and set it to the past DURING your lifetime, where and when would you go? Remember – you can’t visit your past self. We wouldn’t want to blow up the universe.
How about Arizona a couple of months ago? I'd like to see the desert, see how long it takes me to get kicked out of the aircraft boneyard, and hopefully spend a while hanging out with a good friend. :)

4. If you set the time machine to the future, how far ahead would you go?
June. Next June.

5. What is your favorite soup? I ask this because I know that straying from the “time machine” theme will annoy some people, and that’s how I roll.
I probably would have said clam chowder, too. We've got lots of chowder fans on cc! I make it with fresh vegetables and then put the roux ingredients in the blender and run it until it's thick. But I eat tomato soup a lot more often, so we'll go with that.

1. What is the best prank you have ever pulled on someone?
Apparently other people have come up with this one as well, because I've seen it floating around on the internet lately in various forms. But I took a screenshot of someone's computer desktop, complete with their icons and everything, and then set that picture as their wallpaper. Then, I hid all of their icons so that they could see them but not click on them, because they were actually looking at their wallpaper. Finally, I created a fake error message dialog box (that was something I knew how to do on Windows XP, I'm not sure if the newer versions of Windows have the same capability) that displayed a bunch of meaningless stuff about what was "wrong" with the computer. When I walked up, the victim was looking distressed and copying down a fake error code on a piece of paper.

2. What is the best topping combination for a hot dog?
Lol, how about sweet relish and ketchup. I'm not really a fan of hotdogs though.

3. If you had to make a public, monastic type vow in your life ( i.e. chastity, silence, poverty) what type of vow could/would you make?
I would hesitate to make any, because there would always be an exception to the rule, you know? A situation where the best thing to do, would be the very thing you had sworn to avoid. I may have felt differently at other times in my life, but my view of morality has shifted a bit in the past year or so, in a good way. There are some vows that seem far more appealing than others, but I wouldn't actually make any.

4. If a friend entered you into some type of food eating contest, which type do you think you could win?
Raw eggs. I mean it, don't challenge me. I. Will. Bury. You.

5. If you could spend a year in a discipleship program under any pastor/teacher today, who would you want to learn under?
I rather like my current pastor. We'll go with him.
