So, I found red lipstick that works for me (for those of you who remember my post a while back on here) and I put on my sunglasses to see the full effect, and...I look so DIFFERENT. I feel weird. I took a picture. I didn't smile because when I smile, my top lip pretty much disappears and it looked weird with the red, so that may be a problem, ha. Now I just need the confidence to wear this out in public and outside of my room.

I figured you guys would be curious, but...don't laugh. ;)

(For those who don't know, my friends and I are going to be silly and have a red lipstick/sassy sunglasses sophisticated night out sometime soon, so that's what this is referring to.)

Thanks. :) And yeah, it is natural, and actually, my hair is really tame in that picture. I had it in a ponytail all day so the top part is straight. Usually it is MUCH curlier all over. And, it usually looks nice when I have nowhere to go.

Also, I don't really know what you look like, iTORE, but I'm trying to picture you with long, curly hair anyway. :p

I'd post a current pic,but the batteries in my camera are dead (lucky for you) lol I don't think I have any good pics of my really long hairbag days in my comp. (again...lucky for you) BTW Rachel, you've seen my pic before as my avatar but it was the one's of me with my mohawk I think. :p

So I was looking through one of those gadget magazines where you can all the cool wierd stuff you see on those infomercials. I have always wondered if that shampoo that is suppose to make your hair grow really fast and thick, well.... Do you think if you let it run down your back when you wash your hair if the hair on your back would grow fast and thick as well? And what if it went further down than that?! It said it was guarenteed.....

It's a great choice! The red is blue based, and your lips are full enough to pull off a color that deep. You don't look weird or out of place at all. I dig it!

I may or may not know lots about makeup. Everyday and theatrical.

I was just trying to figure out why someone had posted a picture of Katie Holmes. Isn't that supposed to be on another thread?

Och, I'd forgotten about the Native American costume. You're welcome to save and upload that picture here, Cat, if you want. I don't like digging through my old FB photos; if you got back that far, you probably know why. But I know it will get some laughs, so pull it on out.

So, here's the story behind that one:

El Paso Wind Symphony decided to program a Western themed concert, which was fine because most of the repertoire was really good. (Any concert where we get to play John Williams' score to The Cowboys is a good concert.) We were told to dress as cowboys and cowgirls instead of our usual dress black. Since I had long dark hair at the time, and my south Asian features often had people assuming I was a Native American ALL THE TIME anyways, I asked the personnel director if I could come as "an Injun" instead. Notice that I did not specify gender. He agreed, and the plan was ON! Only my best friend and The Ex (we were still together at the time) knew that I was planning to cross-play it, and even they didn't know until two days before.

I essentially became the star of that concert. I had to pose for SO many photos, and I'm probably on half of the symphony's Facebooks, just untagged, as a result. We also were going to recognize the personnel director for his service that night, so at intermission, I was nominated to present the gift to him, so I had to come up with an impromptu speech, and I told the audience that I came "bearing a gift from my people." (I didn't do a fake accent or anything; I played it straight.) Fun times.

Now, as far as this little gem goes, it was from my school's annual Halloween concert from last year:

It was actually pretty easy to piece together; the real fun was in building the freeze ray. I didn't want to deal with paint, so after building it from floral foam (the dense green foam used in plastic floral arrangements) and PVC pipe, I "painted" it with regular grey duct tape and black duct tape. Most of the kids had no idea who I was supposed to be, but that's okay. It's fun to cosplay. ^_^

Finding the pics from ACen might be a little tough; they're from a decade ago! (I miss working ACen; it was an awesome gig.) But I definitely have a pic of Shourro and of Dr. Shourrible easily accessible (they might even be on FB, Ames and Cat). Might have to ask around to find that pic of Shourio and Luigi-berg...
Is it weird that I'm so excited to find out you've cosplayed? Yes? Whatever. No shame. You're awesome, Shour.

EDIT: I just saw the photo you posted above. Let me restate. You. are. awesome.

*sigh* Okay, I've decided to do it. I present, Mario!

And here's me a year ago with my friends, all dressed as characters from the Avatar universe. Bonus points for identifying all of them. ;) Also, I am particularly fond of my costume here because I sewed/crafted almost everything myself. :)

Sooo.. yeah.

Wow! Awesome work! Especially considering you made them yourselves, which is not something I've ever been able to do; I always build from stuff that already exists.

Also proof that cosplay does NOT have to be slutty. (Women AND men.) The issue, of course, isn't that cosplay is inherently slutty; it's that many of the characters represented in major fandoms (anime/manga, sci-fi, video games) just have slutty outfits. *facepalm* Good on ya for choosing to go a tasteful route in adapting Mario to the fairer sex. ^_^

Btw, your Dr. Horrible costume was FANTASTIC!!! Loads of fun. :D
All of my cosplaying went unrecorded for the most part....or is lost in undeveloped film. *sigh*

Most of my time was spent building the freeze ray. Even procuring the wonderflonium to power it required many man-hours of planning. But I do have a transmogrifier that I used to steal some gold bars from a bank vault. One small catch.

transmogrified gold.jpg

The uh...molecules tend to...uh...shift...during the...uh...transmatter...event.

I also have an magnetic automobile remote hacking device. It allows me to access the engine's computer and power steering systems to drive a vehicle from my smartphone. Was pretty much indispensible in the wonderflonium heist.

You will have to submit an application to join the Evil League of Evil, naturally. Once you've been inducted, we'll be happy to collaborate. I should note that our chairman, Bad Horse, often wants to see a successful heist that disrupts the status quo (because the status is DEFINITELY...not...quo...) before the ELE accepts you.

Thanks Shour! I think sewing is fun and I feel extra proud of costumes that I literally stitched together. Also, I've always wondered what Pocahontas would look like if she was secretly a clarinetist... and a man. Thanks for putting my questions to rest. :)
