I always viewed that lust is a strong desire for someone/something that isn’t yours.

I have a desire for my husband, but we belong to each other.

I forgot to say lust is usually a strong sexual desire for someone who isn’t yours.

Not sure bout the "isnt yours" part. Mel posted definition but as christians thats what were taught the bad side of lust..but as tommy pointed out..doesnt mean lust is always geared toward a PERSON..

I used to lust after motorcycles that would go 0-110 mph in less than 13 seconds! Or doubling down on a 12 'cause the dealer has 6 showing.. [bet he busts, not me]

That's exactly what it lust is. I also believe that once you know that you will marry a person that would be desire as well and not certainly not lust. I am sure that if you are engaged you're going to desire the one that you marry strongly. This desire is part of the attraction process, not lust. That's how relationships get started. It's how it works.

My question is, can one “lust” over their spouse?

Imo, I don’t think so as I would then label that as “love” towards your spouse.

But idk - maybe the married peeps in here can answer that.
I do believe that if one has a spouse that urge or emotion is now called desire rather than lust. Married peeps have conjugal rights with their spouse that are in accordance with God's will and desire for a healthy marriage.
