Well to be honest I like movies, but in the past few years fiction just doesn't cut it anymore for me. Been bigger moreso on documentaries, but not sure if those count for this topic. In terms of cinema I like mostly high adventure, dramas, and cult classics.

Hmm I like many movies so its hard to pick just one. Here's just some I can think of off the top of my head for now in no particular order:

Last of the Mohicans
Doctor Zhivago
The Sand Pebbles
Metropolis (maybe the only silent movie that I like)
Quo Vadis
Ten Commandments
Ben-Hur
Planet of the Apes (The OG series, none of that remake stuff)
Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer (again the OG films, not the remake bunk)
Clash of the Titans (again the OG film, grr I hate how they butcher good movies with terrible remakes!)
The Odyssey (1990s made for tv movie)
Jason and the Argonauts
Apocalypse Now
Scarface
The Godfather (mostly part 1)
The Untouchables
Wizards (little known 1977 cartoon)
Watership Down (the older cartoon movie not to be confused with the kids tv series)
The Secret of NIMH
Sleeping Beauty (for the most part I cannot stand Disney, but I always been a fan of Sleeping Beauty.)
The 13th Warrior
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The Good,The Bad, and the Ugly
The Outlaw Josey Wales (favorite Clint Eastwood movie.)
Star Wars (all of 'em)
A Clockwork Orange
Lord of the Rings
Dazed and Confused
Training Day
Apocalypto
Mad Max (all of the series)
Master and Commander

And a whole bunch others, but this is enough for now lol, sorry I got carried away there with cinema nostalgia lol.

I think we had a thread like this not long ago...but yeah...I'm with Arlene on subtitles with foreign films...a must have! Love listening to other languages, but another bonus is that you get the actual meanings of what is being said. So many times when translated to English, things lose their meanings or change entirely.

With that said...

Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon
Hero
Let The Right One In
The Empire Strikes Back (but also all to the SW's films)
Leon (or as many in America know it as: The Professional)
West Side Story
Miracle On 34th Street
Brother Son,Sister Moon
The Shinning

The list goes on...too many to list.

I kind of like prison movies and Steven King, so, Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile are among favorites along with Cool Hand Luke but the favorites among all was Papilion.

I saw JimJimmers favorites was O Brother Where art thou and actually, I thought that was a pretty good movie and if you like the Iliad and the Odyssey, you'll like the movie cause I swear it was based on it. JimJimmers - John Goodman with the eye patch was the Cyclops - the prophet on the rail car was "the traveler", the list goes on...

I loved the dumb premise movie Pleasantville with Toby Maguire and Reese Witherspoon when the town perspective was seen in black and white but the advent of color spread discourse.

The best ever still is The Godfather for me. So many new things created in that move in use now. This was the Alfred Hitchcock of direction for Coppola.

Good to see another studio glibli fan here, Arlene! I will NEVER tire of Spirited Away <3

aside from that, I will always be fond of Disney classic animations such as Snow White, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid
nearly any Audrey Hepburn film, especially Sabrina and Roman Holiday
the Ip Man trilogy
LOTR trilogy
the Twilight.. Just kidding. :p

A while ago, there was a thread asking about movies that you absolutely can not stand. So I thought we should have one with movies that you enjoyed. So let's hear them! My favorite all time movie would have to be "The Blind Side."
God's Not Dead is an AMAZING movie. I'd watch it 10 times in a row.

Lord of the Rings!!! Any day. Including The Hobbit.

Then there are ones like 'The Painted Veil', 'Toy Story 3', and 'Beauty and the Beast' and many other Disney favourites

Of course, can't forget Disney and Studio Ghibili! I loved My Neighboor Totoro and the Borrowers. Then of course there's all sorts of Disney classics like The Rescuers, The Great Mouse Detective, Hunchback of Notredame, Toystory, ect,

I just found The Borrowers at Wal-Mart in the $5 bin, and couldn't resist. We've watched it dozens of times and it's still a favorite.

Movies I could watch over and over again.... well, maybe not, cause I would end up hating them:

My neighbor Totoro (I find it so relaxing)
Coraline
Madagascar (Who doesn't love those penguins!)
Forrest Gump
Pirates of the Caribbean
Slumdog Millionaire (One of the BEST movies EVER)
Paprika
Babel
A walk to remember
Spirited Away
Wall-e
ok, those are enough movies for a thread....

The list is rather long, but I will try to narrow it down.

Star Wars Trilogy
Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
The Princess Bride
Krull
Flash Gordon
Avengers
Short Circuit
Batteries Not Included

I could do this for hours, but I will end it there.
