Hey Everyone,
I've noticed several questions about "Jesus Juking" in the threads, so here is a definition I found on the internet (this is not my own definition, but something I copied from a site):
"The phrase "Jesus juke" was originally coined by Jon Acuff in a 2010 post on his blog "Stuff Christians Like." Jesus jukes are moves that you make in online conversation to showcase your superior Jesus-ness at the expense of other people who have said something, often in banter or jest, that is inadequately theologically correct (or TC for short, the Christian version of PC). Jesus jukes are the 21st century online conversational version of the exhibitionist piety that Jesus calls out in his Sermon on the Mount, like praying on the street corner, disfiguring your face when you're fasting, and announcing your alms-giving with trumpets (Matthew 6:1-18)."
(Ok, this is me again...)
I love the example someone gave here in the Singles forum a while back about a conversation between friends regarding their favorite flavor of cupcakes, but were interrupted from their "worldly" conversation by someone who chimed (literally... as in, church chimes), "Jesus would have given cupcakes to the poor!!"
I have also read that some people are offended by the term because they feel it takes God's name in vain.
Therefore, I would like to ask, what do you think would be some alternative "politically correct" terms for a term that is already it's own brand of political correctness?
I have a few suggestions. Instead of calling it a "Jesus Juke", how about:
1. Sanctified Sarcasm.
2. Justified Jabs.
3. Consecrated Contempt.
4. Mitigated Mockery.
How about the rest of you? Any ideas? Please note that this thread is meant to be some lighthearted fun!
I can already hear the roar of people who are going to say, "Way to go, Seoulsearch... Would GOD be laughing at the things you're saying???!!!"
You know what? I think He just might, at the very least, find it amusing. (I know the next retort is going to be, "YOU can find it amusing... all the way to hell!") But, something interesting to consider... As pointed out in the definition above, the Pharisees were the Original Jesus Jukers (isn't this ironic, since they didn't believe in Jesus), as they never hesitated to "inject God" into a conversation. And yet... we know what Jesus said in reply: "The tax collectors and prostitutes are entering heaven before you."
