I was having trouble deciding if I was going to post this as a blog. I thought about posting it in the prayer request section because it is kinda about a prayer that I've been praying. But this also might belong in the Christian Singles. Another problem I have with writing this post is, what I'm writing could change within a coupe of days, a couple of weeks, a couple of months, or even a year.

For a long time, with my problems, and with the way life has been moving ahead. I can't see myself getting married. But I've had a problem. In fact I have two problems, or more. But I would like to just focus on one or two of them...

I've given things a lot of thought, and I think that it is because of our sex drives that many men lust after women. Many years ago in prayer, I started asking the lord to take my sex drive away from me. I told Him, look if you don't have anyone for me, then what is the point in me having this third wheel.

I have noticed that over the years that the drive has slowly decreased. If it goes down as much as it did this year, I probably won't even have it anymore. However, on the other hand, this is a bit concerning. A decreased sex drive could be a sign of health problems.

What about the problems I'm talking about?
1) I'm over 40 and not independent of my parents.
2) I don't have a high paying job. If your going to have a kid, you need money for them.
3) They say that marriage doesn't solve the lust problem.
4) I have trouble driving. Trouble getting to places safely. I bought a GPS to try and help me but still it's been a hard battle.
5) I suffer from Anxiety and Depression, which comes and goes.

I could write more about all my problems, but I just wanted to give you all an idea of what I'm dealing with.

I don't know if I'm going to keep writing about this stuff or not. I've been honest and I've tried to be accurate. I feel like this might be the last time I write about this. I feel like I've covered enough.

You can give me some opinions if you want. But I'd rather have prayer. It isn't like I don't know what the Bible says about sex and lust. And I've heard a lot of different angles on things. I don't want to get into an argument. I just wanted to be open, honest, and share. I don't have people in my real life that I can just share this stuff with. That is why I do it here.

You are right to share things here because it's good to get feedback from caring esp Christian brothers and sisters. First of all I'd like to tell you nothing is worth worrying over. Our God who knows us best has written how can worry change a thing? When I first got married I was too busy to worry about anything and looking back, I see how everything just fell into place. You don't need to be rich to be married just in love, wise and close to God. For low paying jobs some states offer medi-cal that cover hospital costs.
What's wrong with living with your parents...nothing, it's smart, save $$$. Bad at directions, lol, I have trouble getting back out of a house tract after going to a yard sale.
Don't worry(form of fear) about your sex drive, God made us when we meet the right person, you'll be fine. Hope this all makes sense, as I'm taking a risk putting my views out there, lol. Please keep posting, God bless you!

Back in 2001, I was seeing a psychiatrist. He was trying to treat me for my OCD with anti-depression medication. He gave me a warning that the medication could effect my sex drive. I guess make it less. I told him, good! I don't need it anyways. lol He kinda looked at me in shock. I said, I don't have a girl in my life. Without a female to have sex with, it doesn't do me any good to have it.

Hi Seeking Christ,

I've said a prayer for you, but I also wanted to ask if it's possible for you go to to the doctor for a check-up?

It's totally possible and probably most likely that the changes you're experiencing are due to getting older (I'm a woman and the changes I've had are different than yours, but my doctor is sending me to a specialist just to make sure there aren't any serious or underlying conditions behind it.)

I was just thinking that if you could get a medical evaluation, at least it would clear up the issue of whether it was really health-related or not, which would hopefully help ease your mind.

Firstly thank you for your prayers! :)

Just a couple weeks ago, I was at the doctor and had my physical. The blood test came back all good. But I got no idea if they check for that sort of thing or not. I can tell you that they checked me for a lot of stuff. I mean the paper work I got back was 3 pages long.

I said a prayer for you

There was also this to share
Proverbs 19:16 A mans gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men

I dont know if this means anything to you, but you have a gift that nobody really knows about (yet) . God gave it to you, but maybe you havent shared it with many people. And good news is, this gift is going to make room for you! So you wont need to worry about accomodation or anything when your parents pass on. And people are going to drive you places and take you wherever you want to go because you have this gift.

Now dont say Im making things up this is just what Gods given me to share with you and I dont really know you, but God knows you better than I do.

Everyone has a their views on stuff, and I try to respect that. :) Sometimes people online go down a path that makes me feel like this o_O I sense a little Pentecostal in your post. :) Do have some of that in your Church background?

I don't have a problem with your Bible verse but something isn't adding up for me. What Bible version are you using? I tend to use the NIV, and here is what it says.

Proverbs 19:16

Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life,
but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.

You could have low testosterone or have convinced yourself that you have a diminished sex drive. Both conditions are readily treatable.

You don't need to have a high-paying job to enter into a prospective relationship leading to marriage but rather job stability. In all likelihood your future spouse, if this happens, will also have a job. Very few marriages have only one or the other working.

Before I got married to my present wife, I had nothing except a duffle bag full of old clothes, no car, no job, living with my brother sleeping on the floor. My future wife saw the potential in me, and subsequently fell in love with my heart. She knew I would be a loving and faithful spouse.

Your future spouse, if you pursue this, will see the potential in you. You have to believe that the resources God has provided and will provide will be sufficient. I believe in you and so does God. Your future wife will too. That's just the way that it is.

Praying for you. Since you’ve visited the doctors, I’d actually try to redirect your thought life focus if possible.

Don’t worry about where you are at life and focus on the Lord. Read his word, continue to join in conversations with other believers, focus on all the positive things the Lord has done for you.

Sometimes when we change our focus, both physical and spiritual things in our life change too. All the things you’ve mentioned, the Lord can help you overcome. He won’t always take away all our struggles or afflictions, but he will show you how to overcome them.

God bless!
