Here's the Biblical teaching on the "Races."
It starts at 8:20 mark. Please note that if you skip past that, Kent Hovind spends some time exposing the false beliefs of the Mormons. I will add that variations on this theme are also held by some other pseudo christian sects / cults. Then he continues back on a Biblical teaching again. One thing I have strong disagreement with is his recommendation of Bill Coopers book. I doubt if he knew that Bill Cooper was a wicked false teacher that nobody should listen to or read. Other than that he does a decent job of teaching about origins and skin shade variations.

I mostly disagree with this man, but this is material for another thread. Though I certainly agree that Mormons are a cult, and this video reinforced my objections towards them.

My personal suggestion for you is to take a research on the Black Israelites, which are basically the opposite end of the spectrum. They also say lots of crazy stuff, like Biblical Israelites were black, all blacks are God's chosen people, Esau was the first white person, whites are agents of Satan etc. Sadly these are only two of the huge myriad of cults which call themselves Christian.

My first introduction to the Black Israelites was a young man who came to my door selling books. I tried to talk to him about the Lord, but all he was fixated on was his "black" skin color and had a chip on his shoulder bigger than a bag of books.

I meant Jesus would be white according to the US census definition of white, just to put an example. It happens sometimes that I don't pick the right words because English is not my mother language.
As a Jew, Jesus was Caucasian. Most people living in or otherwise from the Mena regions are likewise Caucasian. That's a biological fact.

I'm certain if Jesus were alive today the far left would try and rope him into being their head "person of color", however I'm just as certain that He'd have something (negative) to say about dividing people up and putting them in boxes painted according to skin tones.

Most I like to think don't like these stupid boxes they are trying to destroy and enslave us with.

You've got a lot of responses from your OP so far. Are the Middle Eastern nations white?
I think this computer screen is white.
I don't think people are, but in the broadest sense of the word.
Even albinos I've met aren't really white. The Hovind video showed lots of examples. Most everyone else are various shades of tan or brown.
Does it matter?

I'm feeling tempted to react, but I will repeat once again for the sake of clarity:

Do you personally think people of Middle Eastern and North African descent are white?

I believe so, but which is your view?
Okay that's clear enough.

Unfortunately (judging from the responses you have garnered so far in this thread) it seems most of us don't even know enough about it to have any facts on the issue, much less argue about it.

Are you looking for someone who has a different opinion to see if maybe you should change your own opinion?

Are you looking for someone with a different opinion to see if maybe you can change their opinion?

Also, you haven't given us your perspective yet, @seoulsearch. I know you are here with us, and I feel particularly curious about your view on this. Maybe you could give us an interesting point to analyze.
I already made my commentary in a previous post on this thread -- mostly that others have already said what I would say.

I appreciate your thinking of me 🙂, but to be honest, I don't have enough experience or contact with people of MENA descent to make a valid commentary.

I do believe though that we ourselves identify ourselves from our experiences, while others identify us by what they see.

Therefore, I can really only identify myself. My DNA says I'm Asian, but I grew up in all Caucasian surroundings and people, therefore I see myself as biracial.

Not full white but also certainly not full Asian. Others would disagree, but maintain a right to decide for my own self.

Because of this, I don't feel comfortable judging or classifying others' racial heritage either.

This was my original reply.

I was also answering your question as to whether your thread would have gone differently if I had written it instead, and my answer was, Nope, I doubt it. 🙂

I didn't have time for an edit above - I maintain a right to identify my own heritage, but feel I don't have a right to ultimately classify anyone else.

Oh, I can assure you the same thing would have happened. And it's not really anyone's fault.

Human nature seems to compel the reader to grab onto the given examples rather than the actual topic, and it's something everyone does, including me.

But threads without examples either don't garner many answers or go even more astray due to lack of clarification, so I'll always prefer to work through the mine field that results when including them.

As for the topic at hand, I don't have anything to contribute that hasn't already been said, but thanks for the nod and I wish you the best in getting the discussion you're looking for.

And if you don't get it, just fire 🔥 up your keyboard and go ahead and write about the next topic you have in mind. 🙂

Anyone who does so regularly knows that writing controversial threads is almost like a challenging part-time job, but sometimes the unexpected answers or twists turn out to be the most interesting. 🙂

I see.

My intent was to gather diverse views of people around here, but it has been a failure. On the good side, the few opinions I got have overwhelmingly agreed with mine. I never expected my idea would get so much support. Good for you.

we really need to be looking at it as Christ does, do we not?

English Standard Version
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

What this means is that when hanging out with seoulsearch online or in person, you kinda forget she's not white because there's nothing to remind you that she's different except her appearance and after the first hour that's just what she looks like and you stop seeing the racial markers (or maybe that's just me. I'm more prone to seeing ideas than stark physical realities anyway).

This is fascinating to hear from the perspective of someone I first met on this site with only words, then in person, and have now spent extensive time with.

When I was little, I honestly never knew or thought about not being white until, or unless, others "slanted" their eyes at me or made a comment that reminded me I was different.

This is one of the many reasons I don't like mirrors or pictures of myself.

I prefer to hold on to my own inner version of who I believe God tells me I am rather than outer classifications given by those who don't know me.

And because of this, I also work hard to try my best to not put others in visual classification box either.

I'm certainly not perfect at it, but I know God prompts me to keep working at it.

It's also interesting coming from someone like cinder who has been to many different countries around the world - not for a visit on vacation, but to live there for a while.

Maybe it's like a speech accent - when you live in one place with one group of people who talk one way all the time, anybody who talks different is an oddity. But when you get out and hear other people talking different a lot, accents become less "hey, he's different" and more "that's a neat way to talk."

Now I understand why some say that the Bible Discussion Forum is full of brawls and toxicity.

So many people think they can discern everything a book written 2000 years ago intends to say, when they can't even understand analogies from a 21st century person!
yea like you lol

why bring up a stupid topic like racism?

We got over that in the LAST century when the holocaust happened. white supremacists came from neo nazism that had its origins in theosophy and then notion of an 'aryan race' which, is not even a real thing. It was just a made up category to satisfy Hitlers twisted views on eugenics.

Maybe the OP had not heard of the holocaust? Well how about the book of Esther, where Hadassha renamed Esther tries to 'pass' ie. hides her Jewish identity as Persian.

Or Book of Daniel - -all three friends taken captive get given new names, supressing their Jewish/Hebrew identity

Or even the story of Moses where hes trying to pass an Egyptian.

Jesus was said of 'what good can come from Nazareth?' though he was born in Bethelehem Judea. Nobody liked his Galileean accent.

Jesus wasnt fully accepted by the Judeans (Jews) of his day either. Because they crucified him maybe?

Look it up in the Bible. While the Romans had a hand in the execution, it was his own brethren that betrayed him.

So yea I would say Jesus is NO STRANGER to virulent racism. But guess what? Jesus became a light for the gentiles, who were at the time despised as unholy heathens by the religious Jews.

Ahem... Yeah... So LittleCedar, meet Lanolin.

Anyway, sorry we couldn't help. This issue seems to be a very geographically localized one, to the point where we don't even know about it, much less have an opinion on it.

Kind of like if I tried to start a debate on what kind of sauce is best on pulled pork barbecue. That's a definitely southeast USA thing and most folks here would probably have nothing to say about it.

Reckon all y’all up yonder (yes, I said up), in Tennessee still can’t tell the difference between Jack Daniels Honey and Jack Daniels Whiskey.😂
