For the record, it's not the "being single" that sucks. Sometimes life just sucks, whether you're single or married. Sometimes being married can be the part that sucks, like when you and your spouse can not agree on a matter you both feel is vitally important to your lives. Sometimes being single sucks, like when a problem comes up and you are dealing with it alone.
If you're depending on the right man to make your life not suck, you are going to be VERY disappointed. And if you try to make that man the kind of man who will make your life not suck, you will probably lose him. No man can live up to expectations like that.

I don’t think God gives us people, that would negate free will. Besides, I would hate to think some bozo is praying for a wife, and God says “I’ll send La_Vie_En_Rose to you and shoot her with a love arrow so she will love you against her will.”
I’d rather pick out my own bozo than be sent to one I don’t want. I imagine men are the same way, they’d rather pick out their own headache than have one foisted upon him, just because she is a good prayer.

I agree with you, Lynx. Being single (or being married) does not suck. There are challenges that come with both situations.
I also agree with your second point, although I think it's fairer to say:
"If you're depending on the right person to make your life not suck, you are going to be VERY disappointed. And if you try to make that man or woman the right kind of person who will make your life not suck, you will probably lose him or her. No person can live up to expectations like that."

If you are single, it is because that is what you intend, regardless of what you think you want. It is the same with being lonely. If you think this isn't true, observe your thoughts down to the root, you will find that what you have, is what you intended. Life is abundant, even in the opposite direction.

Are you one of these people who believes in the “power of positive thinking”? Like, you “speak it into existence”, “name it and claim it”? If so, PLEASE go to St. Jude’s hospital straightaway and claim healing for all those children stricken with cancer. Or maybe they had negative thoughts, and that is why they are sick?
