I've found that most single Christian men and women in the church today are pursuing the things of this world and not the things of God, especially when seeking a potential spouse. It's either about physical appearance, money, social status, career, entertainment and / or a combination there of.
Personally, I have no interest what so ever in a woman who desires what has become commonly known as the American dream (a huge house, a fancy car, a high paying yet equally stressful career, etc.) . I have absolutely no desire to marry a woman who's idea of a fun filled weekend is to spend a small fortune flying to some exotic location, only stay at some five star hotel gorging ourselves on exotic gourmet cuisine and alcohol while dancing the night away. That is self centered living, the exact thing Christ warns us against.
I'd like to marry a woman with a heart for God, to do whatever it is that God is calling us to do, and go wherever it is that God is calling us to go. A woman who gladly give up the American dream so that the lost might be saved, the sick might be healed, and those in bondage might be delivered. If I can't find this then I would rather stay single.
