Where've you been?!?
Ugh, life got hard for the past month. Kinda disappeared for a bit :)

Lost my car (totaled), lost my job due to the injuries sustained in car crash, and got diagnosed with a health condition (not dying).

If you want to sleep but cannot get to sleep, have you tried a warm bath to help
you relax? Put some lavender oil in the water :geek: It works! :) I went through
years of doing that. I would bathe before going to bed and again in the middle
of the night if I awoke and was not asleep again right away. Squeaky clean LOL.
Also, eating protein (think boiled egg, e.g.) before bedtime helps. I had a late
dinner of potato salad with three boiled eggs last night and slept right through.
And that is very rare for me, even though I sleep better now than ever before :D

Quote:

Relaxed Body, Calm Mind
Find a comfortable position to sit or lie down. Autogenic relaxation is an effective relaxation technique that will allow you to relax your body and calm your mind.
Begin by breathing deeply, drawing air in... deep into your lungs... and releasing the breath slowly....
Breathe in....2....3....4...
hold...2....3....
exhale....2....3....4....5...
again....2....3....4....
pause....2....3....
exhale....2....3....4....5....
Continue taking slow, regular breaths.
Now turn your attention to your right hand. Feel the skin on the palm of your right hand becoming warm and relaxed. Feel the warmth in each finger....and on your palm....spreading to the back of your hand.... to your wrist....
Feel your right arm becoming warm.....
Your right arm is starting to feel very heavy.... very heavy, and very relaxed.
Your right arm is warm, heavy, and relaxed.
Now focus on your left hand. Picture placing your left hand into soothing, warm water. Feel the warmth relaxing your hand completely. Allow your wrist to enter the warm, calming water..... and relax. Your arm is becoming heavy. Allow your left arm to sink into the warm water. Your left arm feels warm, heavy, and relaxed.
Continue the autogenic relaxation...
Now turn your attention to your legs. Feel your legs becoming warm. Feel the warmth spreading all the way from your feet.... to your ankles.... lower legs....knees....and hips. Feel your legs becoming heavy.... very heavy, and very relaxed.
Your legs are warm....heavy.....and relaxed....
Imagine a warm breeze blowing across your face.... feel your face and head relaxing.... your eyelids are very heavy....
Continue the autogenic relaxation...
Picture the sun shining down on you....warming the front of your body..... allow your chest and stomach to relax in this warmth.... feel the sun shining....warming your skin....relaxing your body.... as your body is filled with heavy, warm, pleasant relaxation.
Now imagine sitting with your back to a pleasant campfire. Feel the warmth of the fire on your back. Feel your back warming and relaxing..... the warmth spreads all the way from your neck...to your shoulders.....your upper back....middle and lower back..... feel your body relaxing as it becomes warm and calm....
Feel the heaviness in your entire body.... your body is warm....heavy.... and relaxed...
Enjoy this calm, relaxed feeling.
Notice your smooth, even breathing....relaxed and deep....drawing you even deeper into relaxation....
Your body feels very heavy....warm....and relaxed....
Enjoy the autogenic relaxation for a few more moments....
Now slowly begin to bring your attention back to the present.... keeping your eyes closed...notice the room around you....notice the surface that you are lying or sitting on.... hear the sounds in your environment.....
Gently start to reawaken your body.... wiggle your fingers and toes....move your arms and legs a little.... stretch if you like....
When you are ready, open your eyes.... and become fully alert.

Couldnt sleep all night. Had a problem with someone yesterday and couldn't sleep because of it. I am so heartbroken over my own self and how i react to things. Please, i could use prayers.

Paul tells us don't go to bed upset or angry. It is best to forgive and get a good nights sleep.

Ephesians 4:26
Good News Translation
26 If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day.

I think the best way to get a good night sleep is to work hard throughout the day. If you work hard and, of course, work out. William H. McRaven

If you go to bed at night and think about your day and you haven't laughed very much, then you must jump out of bed and go do something fun. Marlo Morgan

Turn the heat thing on the wall to 68 degrees.

What shape is your bed in?

I often choose a math problem or repair to something to dream about.

Avoid Scary movies before bed.

Don't eat within three hours before going to bed.

Hebrews 4

Ending your day with wise words is guaranteed to put you on the right path when you open your eyes once more.

Whatever happend today, remember you did hte best you could with what you know.

Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God’s not given me a spirit of fear,
But a spirit of love,
and of power, and a sound mind,
To live each day and glorify his name.

Psalm 127:2
…for he gives to his beloved sleep.

ask for it

Psalm 4:8
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord make me dwell in safety.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Do you have any support groups? I am thinking specifically like a 12 step group of some kind

I was wondering because I found them to be an invaluable help to me in identifying and sorting through my issues. I went to various fellowships over the years, starting with Emotions Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous were mainstays for me for many years, going into decades. This next part is copied from one of my posts in another thread:

The program offers a place to listen to others share their experiences, strength, and hope, as well as giving you a venue to share your own as well as struggles, sorrows, challenges, conflicts, etc. I was going to AA meetings for quite some time just to listen to others articulate things I could not put into words for myself, before I ever put down the mind and mood altering substances.

Many people don't realize it, but the whole purpose of the program is to help people establish and maintain a personal relationship with God. I was not a Christian (when I started); I was a spiritual seeker for many years, in hard rebellion against the traditional God, Christianity, and organized religion. I did, however, work the steps, learned to pray, ask for help, take suggestions, and lean on the fellowship for extra support when I felt I needed it, and it in turn gave me many friends and acquaintances, lots of inspiration, guidance, and direction.

I've never had a problem with drugs / alcohol. I'm no saint lol, but they just never mixed with my military upbringing and subsequent lifestyle... Anyway, My Ex tried to find a family counselor to prove that I was "psychologically abusive"... just like she did to her first husband. However, fortunately that backfired... and her counselor sent me to "Al anon". At first I was indignant, and didn't feel like it was fair. I wanted to feel like I was "bigger and wiser than the problem". Surprisingly, it turned out to be the same 12 step program as AA and I really learned a lot. Making a few quick friends, who knew exactly what I was living with, made me feel better about myself. It was very worth while. My Ex never went back to that counselor lol...
