I said it with a smile because Canada is such a great country. The US is going to a health care system just like Canada so it should be so much better than it is now. Everything the government runs turns out great. Just look how great GM (Government Motors) is doing now. Obama fired the CEO of the company. so much for capitalism. The government runs the public schools and see how great they are?!? So why not let the government run everything. They have a great track record.
LOL @ GM = Government Motors!

I'd suggest looking at some Canadian humour (note the CORRECT spelling with a handsome 'u' between the O and the R) like the Royal Canadian Air Farce, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, or the Red Green Show.
I'd suggest avoiding those shows because a Christian should find them more offensive than entertaining.

Where did you read that the US would get a system just like Canada? I heard that what Obama is proposing is to provide government run health insurance for people who don't have health insurance. There are something like 45 million Americans without health insurance and if I lived there I would be one of them because a) the job I have doesn't have benefits and b) I'm uninsurable because I have too many pre-existing conditions. I mean, I have insurance for things like the dentist and accidental dismemberment and all that but I can't get insurance that will cover my perscriptions because they are too expensive. I have a government program that pays for my medication and I'm so thankful because I don't know how I'd afford them otherwise. When I got the letter from the second insurance company I applied to telling me they couldn't give me drug coveraged I prayed a prayer of thanksgiving that I live in a country with universal health care. Yeah, the USA does seem to have a lot of trouble with their government run programs. Dr. Phil did a show the other day on the state of government run foster homes. My question is this: why don't Americans ask for help from the many, many other countries that do it better. Like don't the attitude "We're Americans and our government can't do anything right" is really self-defeating. If that's all you expect from yourself, that's all you'll get. If you need help, just ASK!

Have you guys seen the movie The Last King of Scotland? The guy wants to leave Scotland and spins a globe saying that the first place his finger lands on he'll move to. His finger lands on Canada and he spins the globe again. In the commintary the director said at the Toronto International Film Festival the audiance roared with laughter at that point. He said "Canadians love a joke at their own expense." So true.

The worst thing about Americans is how seriously they take their politics.

Politicians are just people perhaps making fun of them will sort of keep them honest

Red Green? Are we talking about the same Red Green? It's not like it's Family Guy or American Dad or something.

Well, I have to confess, I told a little white lie. I don't live IN Halifax, but about 45 mins away. There is a small service in the basement of one of the buildings at Dalhousie University every Sunday, and I've gone to that a few times (my friend knows the pastor.) It's always a lovely service, very Scripturally-sound sermons.

Sweet Jordan. I'll keep that in mind, as one of my friends will be attending Dalhousie.

Shame on you for lying! You're not a REAL Halifaxer!!! ...I guess I can forgive you ;)
