It is a long story. I started a book club, we were reading and discussing the book 1984. Anyway, a person came on CC with the name Galathea and did some things that were embarrassing. I was embarrassed as all get out, and did not come to the site for a couple of weeks, letting the book club lapse. It is too bad because we didn't get to the really good parts. Willie T, Magenta, Desdichado, Siberian, and a few others were discussing it.

It may be too late to revive it, I don't know if there will be any interest. 1984 is a depressing book, after all.
I love 1984. Its strange how George Orwil was able to predict the technology we have today in that book....

It's in the public domain. You can download it for free on an ereader if you like that format. It is one of those books worth reading, but extremely depressing.

"The Animal Farm" is written by the same author, has the same overall theme and is not nearly as depressing. ;)

A lot has happened with her. I'll pass it along that you were thinking about her - I'm sure it would make her day. :)

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. So, are lynxes equal, or more equal? You're right, Animal Farm is not as depressing. I guess communism is not as dire as fascism.

Zero, Seoul, and Pipp will probably be the only ones on here who will remember many of those listed.

I would say Markaham, ChristianCollegeGirl, and AlaynaJ, but I have them friended on FB.

Lynx do not play that game. They just lie in a tree and take a nap until lunch. Let the pigs and farmers worry about who is more or less equal.

And I think it did not seem as dire because it was so much more obviously fiction. Talking animals that ran off the farmer and made business deals with humans... even when the horse was taken away to the glue factory it was not nearly as dire as when the 1984 main character was successfully reprogrammed, because 1984's events were much more plausible.

Oh, I don't know. I reckon property control is a lot less scary than thought control.

I remember most of them. I'm not presently sure about Sweetness or Zander. I remember the names, but not necessarily enough of the 'personality' of the people themselves. The rest I remember well-enough - assuming that by 'Green' you mean 'GreenNnice'.

Jullianna's account is still intact.

Don't worry -- I'm not going to correct all of those names -- I know who you are talking about... ;) :D

I used to talk to some of them in the chat rooms back when I got on there. I haven't done that in quite a while. In fact, a lot of the people I miss are people I [ used to ] only "see" in the chat rooms ( because they never posted in the forums, they only went into the chat rooms ).

I'm glad you posted them. Many of them "bring back some memories"...

I am not sure who you mean by 'Markaham'. I know who the other two are ( by name ).

And, of course, I know who you are - albeit, I have not had any 'conversation' with you in quite a while. I hope everything is well with you. :)
