Well I don't TRY to be an exception. It's not like I intentionally observe societal norms and deliberately go against them... I just do what I want and I wind up being an exception.
Not exactly sure what you mean by your last sentence. I'm just saying that people go by certain norms because it has been something that was implanted for a long time, whether if it's heavily enforced by the people surrounding them or not and whether if it's subconscious or not. It doesn't take away the possibility to do the opposite such as having a shorter man with a taller woman, etc. I'm just saying as to why there was a structure for men to be taller than the women when it came to reproduction; especially since life was harder to strive for with lack of technology, medicine and shorter lifespan and whatnot. Someone had to do the providing and take the chance of not being killed off in an invasion while the other nurtured the young. Statistically and despite that we're living in a society where it's not limited for the men to do the work and income, it still holds some basic values in terms of when a family is created that gives its structure to make sure that the young grow up to become productive and pass their bloodline on until it has no reason to.
To be fair, I even say this as someone who is not exactly fit to what was seen as normal even in today's society. I accept that my chances may be lower on having a suitable partner and have healthy children to raise, which truthfully may not be the case considering as to what has been passed down when it comes to certain illnesses, mental capabilities and physical health. I'd find it to be cruel to bring someone in with all of these risks in an ever fast-pacing society we now have to excel in.
