Is courting the same thing as dating though dating is just for a few weeks to see if you like that person, and courting is just a long term dating though you really hoping on marrying that person?
What are the first steps of courting, compared to the simple, "Do you want to go out with me?" Wanna grab a bite to eat?" So forth for dates, is it similar?
Is their rules involved in courting?

Courting is a way to dating. Engagement leads you to the altar.

Be with Jesus.

I've gotten to the point where terminology is largely irrelevant if it doesn't convey actual intent. So whether you call it courtship or dating, the important thing is to conduct your romantic relationships in such a way as to honor God and show how much you value the person you are pursuing. And I would add to pursue with commitment and marriage in mind, not as some sort of casual recreational activity. Though I definitely do recommend lots of casual recreational group activities before choosing to pursue someone.

I have an even better question...

When dating a gal, has anyone ever introduced you to her friend as "Her new Friend"? Just curious...

Not meaning to de-rail the thread, just wondering if this phenomenon is connected to Dating vs. Courting.

No to your question, I introduce Utah to friends and family as my boyfriend and he introduces me to his friends and family as his girlfriend.

:) Was just curious, had that happen once and nobody I know has ever heard of it around here. I think she was a fore runner to modern day feminism. It didn't last long with her, but i certainly learned a lot! About what warnings to watch for.

Maybe she didn't know what to call said friend because the identity was up in the air. I find that when the singles in our class are figuring things out with an 'interest' or before they make things official they will say friend until the 'official' not friend girlfriend thing happens.

We weren't Christian at that time, and if she wasn't interested then she sure complicated things with her desire for intimacy! LOL. Do all friends do THAT? just joking...but really? THAT'S why I was so confused!

You tell me....the dating scene seems totally confusing to me.
I mean...for example.
Couple could be one of the following....
Talking
Talking talking
Texting
Seeing
Official
Fb official
Exclusive
Or other terms that identify a somewhat relationship. All I know is the 'safe' bet.... Is friend. Lol.

Courting is an old fashioned word for dating. PERIOD. Neither is the correct way to figure out if the person you are interested in is a good candidate for marriage.
