It's so strange...lol Now I find myself trying to "worry" about if I had a family, how would I ever be able to give them all those things I had before? I feel like God sometimes is shaking his head at me saying,"Dude...if I take care of the animals & keep the earth in check, how much more will I provide for you,ya' silly goose?" lol (that's the NiTtSv: New iTOREtheSKY Version) lol

The gross toilet is really why I stay. Lol , My husband and I moved a lot, we lived in 2 townhouses with toilets in the basement, when we looked at this house I knew we'd own it because it had a toilet in the basement. I would love more space, but we can afford this mortgage without me working full time. I'd rather be home with my kids then own a McMansion.

I don't want anything the size of what My ex & I owned again...too big. It was so stupid, but we really loved the place at the time,so that's why we bought it. But it was a waste of space & just a lot to maintain & clean...I mean srsly 3 bathrooms for 2 people? If we'd had kid's it would have been a great house space wise, plus the in ground pool we had...but we even filled that in after year 5 because all we ever did was clean it & barely had time to enjoy it.

It's true I Tore, don't worry. My husband worked 3 jobs, I worked a lot and took care of my kids. My family babysat a lot. When my husband started working full time at the post office and we caught up with Bill's, then my job changed. God helped us keep a roof over our heads, transportation and food. Thank God for WIC (woman infants and children) and generous friends who passed down baby clothes and family who'd buy my babies diapers for Christmas we made it. We just bought our first set of matching furniture. Unreal to me, we ate a lot of rice and ramen noodles, but God provided for us.

Yeah Tore, God is showing me what is important. I don't care about much really. God provides all that we need. If I don't need it, I don't need it.

It's just something inborn in men to want to provide for their spouse...I think that's one reason we stress so much & feel like failures. The thing is this...if you have a woman who loves you & supports you & you are going through tough times..you are in it together. You can't shut her out & get all angst ridden & try to handle it by yourself. That's why God is soooooooooooooo important in the marriage,in everything you do with each other. That stress can destroy a family & it does so much. I want a spouse who I know I can feel safe with in sharing my struggles with..if I'm feeling down. I know she's not gonna judge me..she's gonna love me..pray with me..reassure me that I am her man & that with God there's nothing we can't overcome. Ramen Noodles & all! lol

I loved my pool. I would come home from work and dive in for a night time swim. I worked the pm shift a lot.

A friend I grew up with wanted it all, she wanted the big house the expensive stuff. She'd work a lot and complain about the cost of daycare, if she'd lived within her means she wouldn't need daycare. She's now going through a nasty divorce, the McMansion is really a problem because if they sell it they won't get what they paid for it. He wants her to buy him out, she can't. He won't leave and the tension is horrible. It's terrible and my heart breaks for her and the kids. Sometimes when you have it all, you don't really have it all.

It is a lot of pressure on men. My husband feels that way and he felt like a failure. He wasn't he isn't. He had this college degree that didn't do anything and it was hard on him. He feels better now but I felt bad that he felt that way because he's far from a failure.

100% true. My ex & I did what most newlyweds only fantasize about ever doing. We came together...had no debt..bought in cash our home & car...all furnishings..everything..no mortgage..nadda. We had it made. Or did we? All that was nothingness, because we didn't have God as the center of our marriage..for her God wasn't even an option...for me..he was there, but I put Him on the back burner to live a life focused on her & and that was the most selfish thing I could do. Lot's of wasted time...but I know in my heart that God can & will redeem all that. I just have to keep my eyes on Him.

I hate the word failure and it bothers me when someone looks down on another person because of the job they have. Who cares? God doesn't care about your job he cares about you and your sole.

Men feel the pressure of wanting to be providers & a success
and women feel the pressure to look & act a certain way that is an unattainable lie projected by the media to destroy their self worth in order to make $$$

That's so true. I think my thoughts about living like the Joneses changed when I had kids. I wanted a big house, important job, all that stuff. But I couldn't leave my kids, I realize many don't have a choice but to use daycare, but I did. Stuff doesn't matter much to me anymore.

Heh, I forgot about that thread...I should check on it.

My kiddo still rocks. We're going to have to turn his crib into a toddler bed, before he breaks the side. Ugh...that's gonna be no fun, making sure he actually STAYS in bed.

...yay kids?

Actually, right now, I'm not a fan of kids. 16 year olds, particularly (no offense, lil_christian! you're awesome!).
ha, I just saw this. Good to know I'm an exception. ;) haha

We own a small 3 bedroom 1 bath and one gross toilet in the basement 80 year old home. The neighborhood is nice but the street is busy. We have great soil here and can grown anything in our yard. We have the nicest next door neighbors, they are retired late 60 have grown kids and live alone. They love my kids. The husband is loud but really funny. Our houses are separated by a small drivewAy. In the summer when Windows are open I can hear him sneeze, I say God Bless you, he says thanks. When we are out in the back yard and he's letting my kids watch him gut fish I give him a beer, that's how we roll around here. When they move I'm out of here.
Actually.... half the time he's just saying thank you out of being a nice old dude... & you heard ME sneeze all the way down here in Oklahoma.

My coworker told me that I need to record it and submit my sneeze recording as a possible deal breaker for anyone that is considering dating me.

for real.
