Well you are praying for someone who you will literally meet in the future (God willing). God can do anything but He doesn't always do anything. I'm sure there are many who pray for their future spouses, but still the divorce rate and bad marriage rate isn't any better... then there's people who just live their life serving God and they find the right person eventually. Who has the more faith? the person praying to God about their future spouse because they are worried about having a bad marriage, or the person who doesn't pray and trusts that God will provide.

I dont think praying means your not trusting God to provide. I think not going out and actively searching is important and that you let God lead you and dont try to take things into your own hands. I think its just the way you pray, and I dont think yoshould give God a list of all the qualities you want in a future spouse, he knows what you NEED, but I want God to be part of every part of my life, and that means in those choices as well.

Future choices. Should giving no thought for tomorrow extend to our prayer lives?

I would like to add that I dont believe its something you HAVE to do to find a good husband or a good wife, but i also dont think that it can be a negative thing for you to do either. And God is not planning on your marriage in ending in divorce, or anything like that

Well you're a lot wiser than most girls who don't care and just go with any guy who comes along so I'm sure God will answer your prayers.

ys,I´m agreed I think that you have to pray for your future wife or husband, if you don know the name, jus pray and ask God the cualities that you want that she has or he.

God Bless you so much.

I think we should instead be praying for ourselves to be ready for our future spouse by Gods standards and not our own or others standards. I am praying that God will help me grow to be the wife he wants me to that future person. Praying for our future spouse sounds weird - how do you know what to pray for? You dont know what theyre gonna be like or what their currently doing? At the end of the day it all will probably just end up sounding like another whiney request God is used to hearing from us while we're still unmarried.

I pray for myself as well, asking for God to mold me into the woman he wants me to be.

You should pray for money as well and lots of it, because I do believe marriages need lots of money.

preparation is vital

we all know what men need in order to take on marital responsibilities

in the old days girls would work on becoming "accomplished"

You should pray for money as well and lots of it, because I do believe marriages need lots of money.

They DON'T.
Marriages DON'T NEED LOTS OF MONEY, They need God & to pray together in order to have a healthy good relationship.
God will provide for them. Money can buy things but not happiness & a place with God.

Matthew 19:23
23. And Jesus said to His disciples, Truly I say to you, Only with difficulty will a rich man enter into the kingdom of heavens.

24. And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Instead of telling people to pray for money you should tell them to pray to God to help them with their needs, to provide for them (enough for) food, shelter & clothing.
Not lots of money. God knows what we need, if he can provide for the birds in the sky then he of course he can provide for us who Pray to him & have faith in him.

Matthew 6:19
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves dig through and steal.
20. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not dig through nor steal.

Dont waste your time praying for lots of money, Instead pray to God that you have enough for food, bills , & your family.
Money CAN'T buy happiness Nor can it fix problems in a relationship, sure with bills it can but not emotionally or healthy wise.

I dont single out anyone when I pray, unless someone really needs help or asks me too. I always pray for everyone. I know its huge, but everyone needs prayer. I just want everyone to get what they deserve. Is that too much to ask? Haha, na its not in God's eyes. My Wife will be Blessed, hopefully even more than I am. Thats what I ask from God. That he Bless her even more each day, than me :)

i personally do both:
I first pray for her to be protected, physically, mentally, and spiritually, and pray that she grows closer with God, so she will be ready for that day
and I then pray for myself, and ask God to help me focus on Him and His love, so I will be ready for that day :)

and then I give everything to God, and rest knowing that He has everything under control, and that His timing is perfect and beautiful

I started to pray for him a few weeks ago, to God protect him and help him to have faith everyday.
And I think that it has happened a change in me, I was thinking that I will never marry, but when I started praying the hope came back to me and reconciliate again with the idea to be single, like accept again the God will.:)
