I see this on social media, but I can't stand when people are talking about their friend or boyfriend and say "the bestie" or "the boyfriend".

They. Have. Names.

I don't mind "my best friend" or "my boyfriend", but for some reason, eliminating the "my" and replacing it with "the" just grates on me. It's like it makes them a possession and it's less personal.
I hate the word "bestie" as much as I hate the word "yummy". Those words seem barely a step above babytalk to me. :)
