Hi Charlie one idea. Put everyone’s name in a hat.
Then mix them all up and each child pulls out a name, include
yourself too. If they get their own name they have to put it back and
pick another.

They must not say whose name they got.

Then each child draws a nice picture and says something nice about the
person they picked and writes it down on the paper. They need to put
the person’s name at the top of the paper that they picked. You could give them examples
if they are not sure, like this person has a nice smile, that person looks nice today, that person
is kind, that person has a nice dog. That person said hello to me today, that person played
with me when I was feeling lonely. That person let me use their pen etc.


Then you take them home to check them just to be on the safe side and make
sure no one has been missed out. If any are a bit dodgy, then maybe you could
write out those ones!

Then the next day or when the class next meet up, hand them out to the child
named at the top of the papers. Sort of like a class team bonding exercise.

Then ask everyone how they felt at being complimented, did it make them feel good.
Isn’t it nice to know someone has something nice to say about you etc. DId it make
you feel good knowing you had said something nice about another pupil.

If you are aware of anyone who may not get on with someone else, maybe there
is a way you can fiddle it so that they don’t pick out each others names! Lol

Fantastic idea, while I will only be in that class one day, I do coach volleyball for midschool girls at a Christian school. I think this idea would be a fun team building idea, and just a great way to show encouragement of one another, not to mention supporting the idea of focusing on what is lovely and praiseworthy

Walk in the room to teach the lesson and on purpose drop something, if a student picks it up for you be ready to stick a heart sticker on them and say, "Oh, thank you!"

If no one picks it up for you, act like you're helpless and say, "Oh dear, I've dropped something. Is there anyone that can get it for me?"

When they pick it up for you say, "Oh thank you! That was sooooo kind of you!" and stick a heart sticker on them.

So on purpose just walk around the room engaging the children and doing things that you need help with and every time a child does something nice, quickly give them a heart sticker and be sure to say, "Oh thank you! That was soooo kind of you."

Then, start your lesson..... the winner of the game is the person with the most heart stickers!

Hi I have a God inspired example not sure if you will be allowed to share it or not?

I know an elderly sprightly Christian, she is 89 but has more energy than me!

She does not have a TV or until this event no phone either.

A few years ago I was in town and got this sudden idea to buy her a mobile phone. It wouldn’t go away and then the more I thought about it the more excited I felt inside.

So I went to look at some phones. I knew it would need to be fairly simple for her to use but I also knew she liked learning about new things.

Anyway I found one that had an alphabetic keypad a bit like blackberrys use to have. I thought that would be easier for her to use. It also had a function to increase size of text. So I got that and also a pay as you go SIM card which I got topped up for her. It was a Nokia phone.

It was around £100 all in so not super expensive but a fair amount of money to spend on a whim but I was so joyful and excited!

I got on the bus and went straight to her house in the hope she was in.

Anyway I knocked on the door she answered. I said hi I hope you don’t mind but I’ve just bought you a mobile phone.

She looked at me strangely and asked if it was a Nokia! I said yes! We both just started laughing on her door step and couldn’t stop it was so funny. It was like we each had a big secret and neither of us knew what we were laughing at!

Anyway she invited me in and said she has been praying about getting a mobile phone but didn’t know anything anoit them or what kind to get. Then that morning she felt God tell her she was getting a Nokia phone!!! She didn’t know when though!

We both cracked up laughing again!

Both of us were so blessed and joyful it was an amazing God moment. God answered her prayers and I was doubly blessed for being the answer to her prayer.

She still has that phone I saw her a few weeks ago, it’s been dropped on the floor, dropped in water etc, but it’s never stopped working I think it’s over 7 years old now! We were both so amazed and blessed that day.

Those old school Nokia phones are pretty much indestructible. My friend had one and the screen was all cracked and completely blacked out to where you couldn't see any texts on it, and the whole phone was bent from being straight into an "L" but he would still make calls with it lol.

I like to think that what goes around comes around. If you're kind to others, they will be kind to you later on. If you're mean and selfish, then no one will like you and you won't have any friends.

If these children are Christians, maybe tell them that it's sometimes not easy to be kind. It's usually easier to be unkind and inconsiderate of others. But Jesus wants us to show love towards everyone. So we should try our best to do that.

It's harder to be kind, but it gets easier when you understand why God said to be kind.

Being unkind is like peeing in the pool. Or spitting in the well, or littering, or complaining a lot, or gossiping, or any of the other things we do that junk up the environment we live in. It's easier to do it that way, but it turns our environment into a real dump of a place to live.
