Can we ever go back and make a good first impression? Or erase a bad first impression?

Well, that first impression will always stick with a person, always be in their memory of you, no matter what. But you can prove it wrong given the time and opportunity.
Its not uncommon for me to give bad first impressions, i'm often trying to show people i'm not what they first think. But it won't erase their initial thoughts.

I think that we cant erase the memory of the first impression but i think that we can change that impression when the ppl knows us better, because we cant know everything from a person in just one minute, it take time.

I think you can't change a first impression but you can add things to that first impression. Personally, I always remember the first impression, unconciously. I have always thought that when you meet someone the fisrt impression reveals a tiny(or big) part of their character. If you become familiar with them you can see how often they show that first impression.
My friends still make me remember the first impression I had about them when they say something or act a certain way. If your first impression was bad, I believe you can have a second impression. But that doesn't erase the first one, just adds a good impression to the first one.

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression.

That cliche' said, I believe you can have a second chance, just not to make a first impression. That is where the Lord comes in, He who can harDEN and SOften our heart. :)

I usually dont make very good first impressions, and it's not on purpose. When i first meet people im uncomfortable and dont really talk much. A lot of people take that as im stuck up or im mean. First impressions can most definently be changed because i have made some great friends under those bad first impressions..

I used to believe that first impressions were a lasting impression. I try not to take first impressions too much to heart anymore because it does not always reflect a person's true character I have found.

We never know what a person's day has been like. We might just meet a person who seems mean and nasty, but that person's attitude may have been influenced by what their day was like or something that happened. However, that person could be a very nice and pleasant person in general.

I agree with Nod and McCharming. If we try and remember all of the times people have made false assumptions about us, it helps us give others the benefit of the doubt until we get to know them better; but I really don't know what we can do about the impressions others have of us. People see and believe as they wish, right or wrong.

Mother Theresa said, "If you judge people, you have no time to love them." Sometimes a little love is all a person needs to make them loveable.

It's kinda like people who come into these forums with reeeeally bad attitudes. Seems like if we love on them a little bit rather than adding fuel to the fire, we can eventually see the real person. Most just want to know if we're the real deal..and we're supposed to be known by our love for one another..

When it comes down to it, I don't care about the impression people get of me or what they think of me. The only being I am here to please is God.

I think in a way, hanging on to first impressions can be just the same as judging a person. I also agree with you Jullianna about our displaying of love to one another. Love works wonders :)

I am a second chance person. Because I know if people met me on my worst day, they would not like me. So I try to extend that.

I believe in mercy and grace. I'm awkward, I'm going to need a lot of grace.

You can never change the first impression but the first imression doesnt have to be the lasting one.

What I mean is, if it is the first thing you notice about someone or the first vibe they give off, then that will always be your first impression. Now later on after more encounters with that person you may percieve them differently. The first thing you thought about them will always be there but it doesn't mean that you will always like them or dislike them based on the way you saw them first.

Yep, that's kinda what I was trying to say. Funny how most folks believe in second chances until they have to GIVE one. :)

Chances are, if someone won't give you more time after the first impression, then they wouldn't be good to have in your life in the first place. I usually make a terrible first impression, but like Jesus said, we need to endure til the end. lol. Long term impressions eventually override the first impression.
