Your attachment is the most simplified, yet cohesive differentiation in explanation, imo. Now, I know where I fall. Thank you bowharp!

This has been the topic of much debate across the whole internet. If you really want to get into this we're going to have to get into the many definitions of each... and what sectors of the populace have which definitions... and the 10 minute slideshow presentation... and someone will (probably accurately) conclude I am both. :p

Here's the thumbnail version:
A geek is a person who is really, really into something. Like a car geek or a my little pony geek. My dad is a rock geek. Geeks can blend in with society fairly well. In fact you may not even know the person you're talking to is a geek unless you happen to hit his geek topic and he geeks out about it. Speaking of which, don't ever, ever, ever mention rocks to my dad. He will talk for hours and HOURS about each stone he has with him, how he cut it, how he polished it, what it is commonly used for...

A nerd is a computer geek.

Yup, it's that simple.
Ummm... except they had nerds before computers...

I saw it on the internet.

BC had the best quotes, we still say em at work

"P.B. & J. with the crusts cut off. Well, Brian, this is a very nutritious lunch; all the food groups are represented. Did your mom marry, Mr. Rogers?"

Your query is invalid. The selection of Anthony Michael Hall may apply, but only if selected from the correct movie. When one is pitting the Godzilla of nerds (Lewis) against another, to have a fair comparison one needs to select from an area that is closer to the uber-nerd deep-end of the proverbial pool, rather than the 'not-overly-nerdy-until-compared-to-John-Bender' kiddie pool, which is generally kept close to the adult-only hot tub in most public pool areas. (Note that Bender wouldn't actually be IN the hot tub, but rather sitting as close as he could be to be viewed as part of the hot tub group by an outsider, while still remaining aloof and distant to those actually luxuriating IN the hot tub.)

(Fixed) So who would win in a fight, Lewis from Revenge of the Nerds or Anthony Michael Hall from 16 Candles? (Gary from Weird Science would also fit in this application. )

FYI, I have affixed my avatar to the aforementioned Venn diagram in the approximate position in which I would view myself. I believe that I am equal in both Geek and Dork, while remaining firmly clinging to the edge of Nerd.

Me:
Lets see...
- Choosing to play chess in the library during lunch time. Check.
- Avoiding the "cool/popular kids" like a plague. Check.
- Dredging sports day in school. Check.
- Fashion style, none. Check.

Ahhhh.. highschool. Just a reminder.. Life outside highschool gets better! Except paying tax, bills etc.
