Tell a woman you need a hired hand but are too cheap to hire one so instead youre gonna marry her and force her to run laps around the barn and fetch bags of feed

He'd never get an elephant 🐘 because he'd think the feed and maintenance would cost too much, and plus, the elephant wouldn't look as pretty in a dress. 💃
Wearing only dresses was one of his 800+ requirements for his free farm hand wife, and it would cost him good money to find a dress 🥻 in the elephant's size.
After, the whole reason the guy said he was advertising for a wife to begin with is because he needs a farm hand but doesn't want to pay for one.

I read a book about about a man who fell in love with an elephant. He was a mad rich englishman and bought her in India, and rode her the length of it just because he could.
When he finished his trek he sold her to someone else. The elephants name was Tara. I dont think he fed her peanuts though, it was some other food. The man was related to the family of Camilla (The british kings wife) I will try and recall the title and author. I know it was a Readers Digest Book
