Yeah, and boy don't the matchmakers like to trot out those verses!

(Actually there's a few verses they never mention that would be more effective for the whole you-should-find-a-wife matchmaking thing... but I'M sure not going to enlighten them.)

I think that if we have the desire to be with someone, to get married, that God has someone for us. I believe that there are people in the world that do not have that desire, they are called to be single.

I completely agree, I do not think everyone is called for marriage, but I do think those with a desire for marriage are not called for singleness

Yes, but there are those that have fear of rejection and commitment.

Yep, trust me I dealt with fear and rejection big time. Actually fear and rejection were just two items on a very long list that God has delivered me of. In 2007 God changed completely. It is a process, God is changing me everyday!!

Because God totally never ever ever calls you to be something you don't want to be, right? I mean, all through the Bible, that's what we see, that God will ONLY call you to be something if you really WANT to be that something.

--Like how Moses had ALWAYS wanted to lead the Isrealites before God called him, and he totally didn't try to get out of it or make up excuses as to why he'd be a bad leader.
--Like how Gideon was called to lead Isreal in battle, and he totally wanted it and believed in God, and did not question God at all, or ask God for a sign.
--Like how David sat in the field with his sheep, thinking, "I totally know I'm going to be king one day. I wasn't ever meant to be a shepherd, all smelly and gross. I kill BEARS, yo, and so God's totally going to make me king!"
--Like how Adonijah totally knew that he wasn't meant to be king of Isreal, and totally didn't assume the throne when David died, because he completely felt that's what God's plan was.
--Like how Haman totally knew it was God's plan for him to wipe the Jews from the face of the earth, and since that's what he wanted, he was clearly called to do that by God.
--Like how Jonah knew God wanted him to go to Ninevah, because Jonah felt the desire to go to Ninevah. That desire to go to Ninevah was so strong that Jonah totally went, without delay.
--Like how the apostle Paul totally knew that God called him to lead the Sanhedrin, and how he was totally doing God's calling by imprisoning Christians, and there was totally no way that he would die being shunned by his Pharisee sect, in prison, single, and poor.
--Like how a musician living in El Paso was absolutely sure that God had called him to be a worship leader or music minister, and was super-duper passionate about it, and there was no way he would end up a deacon and Bible class teacher instead. I mean, that's the OPPOSITE of what he wanted, so clearly, that's not God's plan for him, right?
--Like how lots of people here on the Singles Forum totally knew that God's plan for them was to get married, because all they ever wanted was to be a loving husband or wife, and now, as proof that it was totally God's plan because they wanted it so bad, not a SINGLE ONE OF THEM had a spouse who cheated on them or left them or divorced them.

Because, that's obviously how God reveals His will in our lives. He makes your really really really want something. Desire is what really matters, and if you desire it, that must mean it's God's will for you. Obviously, a Biblical concept.
