Jesus was asked what is the Greatest Commandment, His answer:
Matthew 22:37-40
37) Jesus said unto Him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38) This is the first and great commandment.
39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.'
40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40

Im of the opinion that Jesus fulfils the laws not makes them totally obsolete. The 10 commandments I of course follow as law (in my own life) the rest I view as contextual but with the potential of being applicable to my own life.
For example the levitical law of men marrying their brothers wife to make sure the woman and future children and heritance is cared for is a brilliant law for that time because God intended for widows to be looked after, but do I think its a law in todays world that I need to follow should my husband die and leave me childless? No. Creepy? yes.
What about the law prohibiting drinking of blood cos thats what the child sacrificing foriegners were doing? Yes. But I follow that law out of my own moral beliefs that drinking blood is dusgusting, not to mention thats how you can get diseases. But am I going to bible bash every Twilight (blood is cool) obsessed preteen girl with a Deuteronomy verse? No.
