Hello Sir Deade, How have u been?
I took notice of this new thread just now
I have been very absent

Are you done with the surgery yet?
Hiya Josie. No, I haven't had the surgery yet. By the time I set it back up, they had gotten busy. My pre-op appointment is tomorrow afternoon. I am tentatively scheduled for cataract surgery on Jan. 7th. They are going to do one at a time. The right one is the one throwing off my vision. Keep me in your prayers, please.

Also pray for this new herbal remedy for the tinnitus (ringing) in my ears. I have been on it one month now and although most of the ringing is still present, I am picking up sounds better. Any improvement is welcome.

Okie dokie it's a wonderful weekend to have and be with loved ones. Remember; the Son of the only true God was born in a stable and rested in a feeding trough while most slept in warm beds thanklessly. He was a refugee in Egypt and was a mere Carpenters step son from a town that good supposedly came from. Lets be grateful and honor him with praise Monday night and Tuesday when we celebrate his birth. I thank him publicly for the extraordinary measure of love he has bestowed on all of us. Share the love. Have a great weekend.

Well peeps, I am finally logged on. My system had an auto update last night when I turned it off. Much to my dismay this morning I was crashed. From the boot sector I went into system checkup and the hard drive kept failing. I recently bought some DVD-R discs meaning to backup my system. I put it off and seem to be stuck.

I kept going through the systems restore functions, but the only option was to uninstall all my apps that I had bought. That included MS Office and McAfee Antivirus and I wasn't willing to start over. I left the computer on after trying to run restore functions and went to do something else. I was finally ready to call HP support when I came back. I hit the power button thinking to reboot back to the system screen and up popped the Windows logon screen. I logged on and I guess it fixed itself. I am doing the backup boot disc for the DVD-R immediately. I am also doing an image backup on disc right away. Nothing like a crash to get you to do what you already know. HP probably would have charged for support. Praise God I didn't have to do that.

I've been keeping a 32GB flash drive plugged in as an axillary memory over load for the system to use when it updates itself. Windows finds it without my help and the system just keeps going like the energizer bunny.

Yeah well, I am ex-computer repair specialist. Even though I am retired I should know enough to protect my stuff, Lord knows I have harped at business owners enough to be sure to have a backup place in place.
Sometimes we are are worst enemies.

I've never heard that. I used to make backup discs and save them but it often took 20 hours. I had just bought the flash drive to store my files and pics into but fell asleep. The next morning when I woke up the computer who's memory I was trying to salvage (so I could discard it), was running again. It repaired itself in my sleep.

When electronics switched from what seemed sensible to me. Coils, diodes, transistors, resistors and capacitors to silicon chips I have been completely lost. I have a multimeter, a test light and a soldering iron They are almost as useless as the years of education it took to learn how to use them or the cars I used to fix with them. The only things that seem to REMAIN CERTIAN is God will remain God and water still runs down hill. The second may also change.

I was just back out for a reboot. I was typing and there was a delay as the system still hadn't cleaned up. It's running better now. I am cooking my world famous stew, so I'll be ducking in and out.
You said 2 of my favorite words Duck & Stew.
