Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS are become new.
~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

Is there anything God can't make new in your mind?

Zan believes that God created us as social creatures and that being said i think that's why we like stories so much. God himself did most of his teaching through stories. Satan of course uses good things in counterfeit ways to harm us through our natural like of them. Zan doesn't watch much tv or movies as they portray an ungodly world view. That being said though, a good deep story with a Godly world view is something very beneficial. One of the most touching scenes of ALL the movies I've ever seen, and the one that has impacted me the most, is a scene from the "Passion of the Christ". It's the one where Jesus is caring the cross and marry is trying to get to him, he stumbles and falls and she rushes to him. He, all bloody and beaten, looks to his earthy Mother and with Joy says "LOOK MOTHER I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW' I get choked up every time i think of it.

I hope I don't derail this thread too far. There is something to be said to seeing the world with a critical eye. When we know the world, we can not only see how great God is, but it can also lead us to think critically about how close our own lives match these "worldly stories." If done with a right spirit, can it actually help us avoid sin better? I recognize that you weren't trying to convince us all to accept this as the "right way" but just wondered, I guess, if you have considered this when developing your own view.

My life has well proved that God can renew, restore, cleanse, and purify anyone. He pulled me out of the sewer that my life had become and completely changed me.

Oh my, I do think I went a little sharp on that last note.
A little sharp? that was waaaayyyyyyyy sharp. :D

That is something that sets Christianity apart from so many other creeds. Our God is large and all-encompassing, yet personal and loving. He lives by principle and enacts laws for the good of the order, but these seemingly impersonal principles have the imprint of a personality. He stretches from one end of the timeline to the next. All things are new because he can extend His hand of renewal at will.

He is knowable in a personal way, but hardly knowable in any conceptual fashion. Efforts to compress him only result in cults and posers taking the helm of leadership. Their tactics familiar, their names forgotten in the long sweep of eternity.

The ones who will be remembered are the individuals who have seen enough grace to sign the Book of Lambs, but only because of His grace and love in the act of offering them eternity.

The more I study other world religions, the more I realize how glad I am to be a Christian.

sigh the only thing zan was really commenting on is Jesus' Love for us and his willingness to go through what he did because he knew he was making all things new . *shakes his head* always something to pick apart

I'm sorry, but it was just a question. You presented an opinion, I was wondering about what lead you to it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not sure if you intended to or not, but thank you for presenting this. It was this thread of thought that led me to my post regarding how we view worldly things. God can even make new our whole outlook and perspective of our world and wordly things (more than making our "world view" new even).

I wish I could say I did, but I am neither that observant nor that clever.

Zan, what is with the 3rd person?

There are some memories that I wish God could erase.

I was just wondering are you really 15, you didn't accidently hit 1 instead of 3 or 4, did you? Lil_christian, for you show the godly wisdom of someone 35 or 45.

Gabe, He uses all things for good. Those memories may very well have contributed to making you the humble, loviing person you are. God has used the compassion they've brought about in you to help so many others through you, whether you know it or not. :)

When I was about your age I came to the Lord Jesus as my Saviour, and was told how wise I was, but in all honesty you show much more wisdom then I did, at that age.
