Yeah a ring of any kind is usually a deterrent for me too.

I think there is a correlation between the proportional number of rings a girl wears and the level deterrence I exhibit in pursuing her.

(Its mostly for hygienic reasons though. A lot stuff gets stuck in on and under rings. and just washing your hands doesn't really get it. Its like someone who doesn't clean their fingernails, every time they wash their hands.)

I tried to put a purity ring on once, but as soon as it touched my skin it burst into flames and disintegrated.

I guess my purity was too strong for it.

Purity rings.

They're like the club for women. No steering wheel required to shut it down.

I wear a ring. It doesn't do anything physically to help me stay pure. When I was first saved I was very quiet and shy and it was a conversation starter. And as far as someone thinking i'm married, I wear it on my right hand. Even if I did wear it on the left hand, if you can't figure out that i'm single, you're are far too unobservant and i'll pass anyway.

I wear one on the middle finger of my left hand. My friends and I are all either fairly new in our relationship with Christ, or finally deciding to step up to the plate and make it real. We all have varying stages of purity (some completely pure, some no where near pure, one girl was raped), but we decided that we wanted to solidify our commitment to God to stay pure going forward. We all prayed about it and decided to be accountability partners, and decided to all pick out purity rings. We each picked ones that fit our personality and decided what finger to put in on based on our own personal conviction. Really it is just a symbol to ourselves that though we may not have made the best decisions, God has wiped our slate clean. They also have become a symbol of not only our relationship with God, but our relationship with each other.

You know, I get the idea...I mean, I get it, I do...but purity rings always threw me off. Think about it...

I'm going to wear this ring, that unless asked about, is generally a marriage symbol, so as to throw off guys who would otherwise try to flirt, hit on you, or get to know you in some sort of dating purposed way...to remain pure for a guy who isn't like that...but...if a guy hits on you or wants to get to know you when you're wearing a ring, is he really the kind of guy you're looking for??

Idk...just seemed strange to me is all...

I am thinking a purity ring was meant to be worn by teens.. on their ring finger of the left hand to be replaced by a wedding ring.. at that age you are safe to assume if you are known in your community as single and pure not to have to worry about a young man or woman (if you are a guy wearing it) thinking you are married..
:)
but yes I totally see the confusion if you wear that ring at an older age.
I have "in a relationship" on facebook and when I did it there was a people page for Jesus Christ.. so I put in a relationship with Jesus Christ.. that page has since been taken down (probably because they saw they were now in a relationship with me :) lol...hey you can't relationship commercial sites..)
so now it looks like I am in a relationship..
I made my point, I guess I should take it down now:)
because a friend of mine told me she met her husband on facebook and I have just taken that ability away:)
haha

good post.
