I don't necessarily want to live in a different time, mainly because that's just not possible. Instead, I want to simplify my life to the point that it would be indistinguishable from life from an earlier time. Not as much reliance on technology. More tools for tasks, less gadgets. Books for learning instead of the Internet. Cooking a meal instead of nuking a TV dinner.

My Mom has always talked about how great the fifties was. I kind of wish I could go back for a week during that era and experience it for myself. I could end up like Marty McFly and have to make sure my parents got married. I don't want to go there.

Lol, I expressed a similar thing on here once, but Willie-T said it was a bad idea because there weren't any AC, and the cars only had hand cranks

Oh wouldn't like cranking a car and having no AC. We're spoiled , I wouldn't want to go back to the time of no indoor plumbing or when you might get shot or scalped traveling across the country. Uh I think I'll stay here, lol.

There used to be this reality show on PBS called the 1900 house. They picked a family to live like a family did in the 1900's. It didn't look fun and there weren't to many options for a woman having her monthly visitor. If you lived during that time you make the best of it I guess. I probably would have died very young, lol.

That's why we still have the term "on the rag". It worked for thousands of years.
Then again, I plan on living alone in my simplified life. I can't tolerate the nagging of a woman in the 21st century, so making one "rough it" is kind of like slapping a grizzly bear. I'm foolish and silly, but not stupid.

Lock her in the root cellar with a bag of chocolate bars, a hot water bottle, and a box of kleenex and tell her she can come out when she is no longer acting like she's possessed.
Well, there is a way to be dealing with the monthly visitor, but then you'd need a big house

Flag down cars and make the make-a-call gesture. Lots of people will pull over and make the call for you. Or ask the next person walking by. Or, if you're near a business, go in and ask if you can make a call. Hubby had that heart attack, iffy whether he'd live the first night, then the first two months, and then my debit card was canceled the day before a blizzard, (both happening on a weekend), my car broke down a couple of times, I needed a taxi on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, and did NOT use my phone once. (I have one. I have no idea how to use it. lol)
