That's why I finally just put the cards on the table.

Walking the road alone is... not possible. I think it's when we start making mistakes (at least it is for me).
Well ServantStrike if we can't help you in any other way we can pray. Knowing your problems makes that possible. But there are also some great answers to your post.

I had a job in South Africa. It was one of those "now you are set for life" kind of secure jobs. It was until I got retrenched. That was about the time the economy tanked down there. I could not get another job. I tried to start a business, but I needed some investment which I could not get. Strangely enough, I got a job in Europe.

Then there is this thing about HR. I know when you are not getting any response it looks bleak, but no positive replies has NOTHING to do with you as a failure. The failure is in the system. It's them that are failing, not you.

Praying

Servant,

I am guessing from your post that you (and several people out there) have a particular talent with computers and technology... This is just a humble idea that might not help any, but many of us out here would clamor for your kind of talent. There have been many, many times I wished I could pay a trusted fellow Christian to help me with technical things.

I'm not sure if you have the opportunity to advertise your skills via flyers at your church (or if your church has a technical position for which you can work or volunteer--all the churches I've ever been in are begging for people who understand machines, lighting and sound, and computers), the library, community center, or local neighborhoods? I don't know what a fair price would be, but the past several years I've lived in communities with a lot of older people especially whom I know would be more than willing to pay someone to help them understand/set up/fix their technological devices.

I don't know what kinds of charities, etc. you have in your area but these places are often looking for help in these fields as well, whether paid or volunteer.

When I have computer issues I never know who to trust, so once I get settled into a church I'm planning on asking around for a Christian business or person I can pay for help. I'm not made of money at all, it's just that for if I'm trying to work in an area I have no clue about, I'd much rather eat ramen noodles for a week and pay someone who knows what they're doing. I wish you lived in this area; I would be more than happy to post your flier in my immediate community and vouch for your character.

Best wishes, Servant. You wrote a lot that I can relate to and I'm very sorry for this particularly frustrating time. Keep talking to us and sharing... Hopefully we'll all swap ideas and encouragement until God sees things change for the better.

I'm right there with you, have the same feelings. It's not a good place to be. I have medical issues also. I hope a job opens up for you somewhere for sure. It's hard to stay positive when nothing works out.

I think seoulsearch's idea is good :)

If you set up something for someone, you will be able to show that off during i.e. and application / job interview.
I tried getting a programming job once. I didn't get it, but I got as far as to the interview, and that in itself was a victory to me, as they said most of the applicants didn't even return the "test" program they were asked to make when applying. So, basically: Work, even if it is totally unrelated, and see if you can do stuff on the side that you can show off to HR or whoever.

Praying you find something :)

I don't have a lot of advice... but I can offer you a big hugggg and some prayer. Romans 8:28 *And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. :)
