Good question!

The purpose of this thread is that it's meant to be a team-building exercise -- as in, we're putting the information people gave us about themselves to good use by including them in various scenarios, so yes, the people have to be real.

Alas, the point of this thread isn't actually about zombies, or disasters, or any of the actual "situations" that are listed here -- the whole point of this thread is that it's basically a "pop quiz" about everything we learned in the last thread.

You can use people who aren't listed in the last thread or even on CC, but yes, I do request that they be actual people.

I just don't want all that people were willing to share about themselves to go by in the blink of an eye. The main theme of this 3rd thread is to get you asking yourself, "Who Did I Meet? What do I Now Know/Remember About the People I Met from the Last Thread? How Can I Put What I Learned About Them into Action?"

The focus of the thread is all about taking the information we learned about everyone and lightheartedly guess how they'd react in certain situations, based on they shared, in an effort to get to know each other better. :)

For everyone out there, just take a deep breath, and let's all say it together: "It's All About the People, NOT the Zombies!" Or aliens. :alien:
Yeah the scenario would be too easy if fictional characters are used.

SCENARIO: I'm running for political office in a small town.

GOAL: Get elected no matter what!

TEAM:
- I'd have to get GOOWZ to finance it, as I don't have the money to run a political campaign even in a small town race. The honesty part might get in the way of politics though... He would also be good with strategy.
- laughingheart would be the volunteer who runs all over town driving signs in people's front yards. She would also provide legal counsel to figure out what we can get away with without actually technically breaking any laws.
- love_comes_softly would be the faceman... er... facewoman... well, faceperson, the one who talks to the reporters and writes the speeches. If she can get a class of kids to learn something, she can get a message through anybody's head.
- OneofHis did not post in the DIY thread, but I would have to get him on this election campaign because he is so good at saying something and retracting it. We're always fussing at him for deleting posts. He could make the most outrageous claims and then deny he ever said it with such a convincing demeanor that people would be left wondering if they had misheard him before.
(Sorry man, had to pick at you. Love ya bro.)

Lol...

I'm sorry peeps.

I've been working on a laptop all afternoon, and I just realized how cumbersome this thread idea might be for people typing on phones. Please, just do what you want to do, and whatever is easiest!

If you just want to pick one idea and answer in a few words or sentences, feel free. I'm sorry I didn't find a way to condense this more for people who access the site through their phones.

I'm already learning lessons for next time! :)
The real question is was this intentional lol?

I agree - we absolutely need to make the scenario and team characters as realistic as possible. Everyone knows TWD zombies are more realistic than the WWZ zombies... Seriously, how does a dead brain get the primary motor cortex to generate neural impulses that control the execution of movement as fast as those WWZ zombies that could give Carl Lewis a run for his money.

If we've learned anything useful from TWD it is important to pick an excess of CORE Team members (ALL HANDS ON DECK) - knowing every season a few are going to have to be sacrificed for the good of keeping the show alive... We've also learned that it is helpful to form multiple Teams and to form alliances as it is not only the zombies that we need to worry about here - it is also all those pesky married folks...

Now if this scenario is going to be as believable as possible - we need to plan for near-term and long-term strategies... While it is important that we have qualified Team leaders that can ensure the tactical day to day survival - we also need to plan for the long-term future of the human race...

So we'll need to seize the initiative of the CC matching system to ensure that we can selectively match couples based upon fertility and strong genetics to ensure safe, timely and effective conception, reproduction and raising of healthy offspring all for the good for the survival of the human race.

Bottomline: the grave reality of this scenario simply calls for scrapping the DIY matching approach and people are just going to have to suck it up and accept their lot when the system matches them up for the good of our species long-term survival... :)

I vote for accepting all proposed plans and teams as an overall strategy to divide and conquer...

I will do one at a time. 1.) Zombie apocalypse. I would choose Susanna and JustELi for the same reasons you did, Kim(?). Also, as many people from the gun thread as I could. Anyone good with knives or swords?

My goal would be survival-because God made me that way. I wouldn't know the best picks until I had everyone I wanted(any sword masters or knife fighters?).

2.) I'm going on vacation and need someone to watch my Iron Goddess of Mercy Tea plant. I would have Blue Ladybug watch it, since she already has a coffeehouse of cafe or something.

If anyone is looking for an easier way to answer this thread, @Lynx and @laughingheart are using some very helpful tools that I'll definitely try to utilize next time. The @'s help us know specifically who is being mentioned; and Lynx has a much easier format nailed down -- just tell us:

A. Scenario (use your own or choose some ideas from Post #2.)

B. Your Goal for the said scenario.

C. Who (one person or many) would you want to go with you and why.

You can also go to Post #2 and hit the "Post Reply" button. It should make a copy of that post in your text box, and will allow you to edit the text as you desire, allowing you to keep the suggested choices and fill in your own answers.

If you want to see how your post will look on the thread, just hit "Preview" and it will show you an example of the finished product. If you want to make changes, just keep on editing in your text box and when you hit the "Post Reply" button for the final time, it will post this final version.

If you ever have questions about how to make replies or use some of the options here, feel free to ask in the threads. I'm always learning new tips and tricks so we're all learning this together. :)

Yeah the scenario would be too easy if fictional characters are used.
Since the goal of the thread is to meet/interact with the people here in the forums, writing about people who don't actually exist would defeat the whole purpose, not to mention give some unfair advantages.

This really IS interesting though. I honestly thought that people would be concentrating on things like, "Which people here would have the same kinds of goals/objectives as I would in these situations?" but it's intriguing to me how most of the attention is going into the actual situations themselves and not the people. (Of course, I realize we have to know a situation before knowing who would be good at facing it, but like I said, I didn't anticipate that the focus would be on the zombies instead of the people.)

I also find it fascinating because we are all accustomed to the way WE think and not so much to the way other people think. In most any given situation, I'm thinking about the people and what their experiences/backgrounds/outlooks might be, and would they share with me if I asked them. But I guess for other people, they're thinking more about the details of the circumstances? I wouldn't have even thought to include fictional people because I was thinking about the real people we've met here, but that's just the way I think, so my thanks to you for broadening my horizons. :)

Maybe that's why it sometimes makes it hard to relate to one another. We're literally thinking in entirely different modes. You might be thinking about the situation, and I'm thinking about us getting to know each other as people, and so we might find it a little difficult to talk to each other at first. This isn't a criticism at all, just an observation of something I'm learning from this thread.

I actually got the idea of the Zombie Apocalypse from another team-building exercise that brought up this question and it was a lot of fun. I probably should have given this thread a more generic title since we're trying to use other situations besides a Zombie Apocalypse, but I had this idea stuck in my head the entire time I was writing these threads, so I just couldn't let it go. :alien:

SCENARIO: RoboOp and all the admins and mods have vanished, leaving only a PM in my inbox that says I am now in charge. AAACK!

GOAL: Try to keep the whole place from imploding.

TEAM: Oh shoot oh shoot think fast Lynx... Um, okay, we can let the BDF stew in their own juice but we want to save the cool forums if we can. Okay so we need a team of mods who can keep a level head for themselves and keep sanity and perspective in threads... and drop-kick people who are just here to cause trouble.

- Subhumanoidal, gotta recruit him. He's blunt, but he is also incisive in a cut-to-the-chase way. He can play bad cop and say the things that are true, but will make people angry when they are confronted with them.
- Dino can keep the tech side going. I don't know how much he knows about running forum servers, but he's quick enough to learn faster than I can.
- seoulsearch is getting dragged into this because she makes a great "good cop" counterpoint. After Subhumanoidal has said things that are true but harsh and blunt, she can explain them in ways people can accept.
- OneofHis can be conscripted for his ability to kibitz. He can keep the conversations going and throw in facts and details here and there.
- cinder of course, gotta have her. She's as incisive as Subhumanoidal, and just as blunt, but never as harsh. She's also great at seeing right through a smokescreen and getting to the main issue.

LOL!

This is hilarious!!! Thanks so much for pointing it out, @G00WZ -- I got a good laugh out of this!!

Every year, the Easter Bunny (aka my Mom) gets me a couple of my favorite springtime treats and hides them at their house for me to find after church. :)

And... This picture is a good example of how my life goes -- it's kind of wonky and lopsided and full of unique characters, just like this box of Peeps. As you can see here, one is a cyclops, one doesn't have any eyes at all, one has an eye on its shoulder, and the other one has an eye sliding right off its head. When I pointed this out, my Mom promptly pointed at my Dad and said he was the one to pick them out! :D

I told them I'm pretty sure that the elf in charge of running the machine that plops the eyes on the Peeps must have been drunk during his shift.
