Waiting is hard, Lainey... I recall saying I was going to be a confirmed over 30 bachelor and then IvyLee came along! Boom! I was married by 25!

Enjoy all sorts of friends, be social, get out, volunteer, take classes, enter competitions, do life and as you participate, Love Will Happen!

I'm just tired of looking...tired of trying...tired of the unsolicited pep talks from friends on dating...tired of being lonely...tired of the deafening sound of silence in my home...tired of holding this beautifully wrapped present that holds all the wonderful things I could give to a partner but there being no one around wanting it. I'm a confident accomplished person that has reached wonderful goals in her life and is complete and secure in who she is on every level... yet... at the end of the day...all I truly want is to love and to be loved...
Just wanted to say that I feel your pain...

I hate how when I meet a girl and it's all magic at first and then something happens.. something bad.. and the magic is gone. It's like you can't mess up with girls... they remember and then they keep that in theme forever. I speak of specific times in the relationship.

Just stop looking and deal with it. Being single is not that big of deal unless you let it become a big deal. I belong to a single parents bible study group. And you know what I hear out of the single mothers? "I'm just waiting till God brings me someone" NEWSFLASH!! Unless that special guy is the UPS or FedEx guy, I doubt hes going to come knocking on your door. That expectation is out there and the next thing you know, they are sliding down the back side of 40 and still waiting.....

Be content in what you have. If you cant, then get boots to pavement and get out there so he can find you and ya'll can meet.

I feel the same as you. I want someone to hold and love as much as you. I did not find the comments that helpful except a few that you commented on. I think to many people now are into phone relationships texting and such. All ages turn to teck to communicate. Like we are doing now. The people I have dated which are many(most were not nice in the end) I met by being forward. I saw someone interesting and I just started talking and asked them to coffee and they then quickly became friends and then we dated. I am very alone now because I have not got over my hurt but that is how I did it.
It will work for you. It is a little scary at first but it gets easier. You need to be on the offensive.

I will talk more if you like.

I think that right there explains why some of us are cautious and prefer to wait on relationships. The odds of getting someone who ends up bad are much greater than the odds of randomly choosing someone good. (Stupid human sinful nature and all that jazz).

Yes but you can find bad people in the Church or anywhere. It is a way to meet people. You can only tell who is who by observation. God will not drop someone from the sky to you. As Christians we are to go out and take chances that is what having faith requires.

Wow Lainey, My heart absolutely went out to you for both your candor and for having the courage to pour your heart out like this. Please know that you and other women are not the only ones who share this sentiment because there are plenty men who do as well; however societal norms preclude us from doing so, or deem is acceptable. I will pray for you dear sister that the Lord brings you the deep desire of your heart.

You've probably heard this before, but stop looking for the "one" because mostly what you'll find are people on that same worn out hamster wheel looking for someone too. Start living, enjoying life and doing exciting things and I'm sure it'll just happen.

Whoa whoa whoa.

Careful what you wish for, getting hitched doesn't necessarily end loneliness, you just inherit so many problems that you no longer have time to be lonely. And the day may come when you'll yearn for that deafening silence in your home. :)

My mother always told me; "There's lots of girls out there, your just too darn fussy"
This was my favorite post in this thread.

You are a very pretty woman and you sound intelligent so maybe shake it up a bit? I mean maybe volunteer or take up a new hobby that involves others. Lots of nice people volunteer and the need is great. There are pool leagues, bowling leagues, bridge leagues pretty much whatever your interests are there are probably others doing the same thing near where you are. Don't give up, I have found in life I usually find things when i'm not looking. Praying for you!
Loved this. He complimented you and gave you advice and you responded with saying you'd punch someone or pray for them? What the hell.... Lainey I think you need a serious attitude adjustment. He didn't like your response and neither did I. All he said was to try new things and have variety and spice in your life : his perspective was if you're tired of looking, try other places to look. Someone who sifts for gold isn't tired of looking for gold, they're tired of coming up empty handed so they go to a different river and eventually find value.

You're kind of rude. I hope your attitude changes so that when a good man comes your way, he won't miss the true treasure you are.
