I'm just tired of looking...tired of trying...tired of the unsolicited pep talks from friends on dating...tired of being lonely...tired of the deafening sound of silence in my home...tired of holding this beautifully wrapped present that holds all the wonderful things I could give to a partner but there being no one around wanting it. I'm a confident accomplished person that has reached wonderful goals in her life and is complete and secure in who she is on every level... yet... at the end of the day...all I truly want is to love and to be loved...

Saw it said you were divorced for 2 years? I'm almost 41 and have never been married. So i've got a good handle on how it feels.

Ah, I'll explain that. A "Jesus juke" is when someone pops in to try to make the thread all about religion.

In the case of threads like this, it will probably take the form of "All you need is Jesus" or "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, so you should be trying to get closer to Jesus instead of looking for a man."

God created us to love and to be loved. Lifting you up in prayer to the Lord Lainey that God will bring that special someone into your life who will fulfill your heart's desire. :)

I can relate. Prayers for you. I'm not gonna give you a Jesus Juke lol. I know your tired of the pep talks. I am tired as well. I have a duplex with a mini dachshund that keeps me company and all of the offerings of a career and blah blah. I go to the gym a lot to pass the time. I also am involved in my church in extra time with extra activities. You gotta keep yourself busy or you will go crazy. As long as she is not in a relationship with her phone...she is out here I know lol.

Keep looking. Who you are seeking is seeking you as well.

Affection is important. I'm sad to hear the lack of it has you a bit in the gutter, Lainey. A lot of singles face a sort of existential loneliness, it seems.

Plenty of decent people here to talk to. Maybe making some connections will curb the loneliness to some extent.

Thank you everyone for listening and not judging or "Jesus Juking". Being single has been both empowering and debilitating but there is comfort in knowing I'm not alone. Some of you have already shared some of your tricks to warding off loneliness, what are some other things some of you have done? Besides praying, church, and reading the bible.

You are a very pretty woman and you sound intelligent so maybe shake it up a bit? I mean maybe volunteer or take up a new hobby that involves others. Lots of nice people volunteer and the need is great. There are pool leagues, bowling leagues, bridge leagues pretty much whatever your interests are there are probably others doing the same thing near where you are. Don't give up, I have found in life I usually find things when i'm not looking. Praying for you!

Okay I'm married I'll get that out of the way, but I do remember feeling the way you did at one time. I won't Jesus juke you or say something like, oh when you least expect it, blah, blah. I will say dating was hard in the 90's and I sympathize with you because there are a lot of people with the wrong intentions out there and it stinks .

I will pray for your frustration, this is a good place to vent.

Lol...dating was hard in the 90s! Try now. With all this social media stuff no one wants or even cares to meet in person. Why? Because you actually might have to talk to someone face to face. Its as if people have all the sudden become afraid of social conversation away from a screen.
