I just ran a load of laundry. Lately, I have been doing my own personal laundry to free my wife from having to do it for me.

My wife has used Tide detergent for years and uses the pods. I am thinking about switching to Gain liquid detergent instead of the Tide pods for just my own particular loads.

Not too sure about the dryer sheets either. Perhaps liquid Downey fabric softener in the wash instead of Bounce sheets in the dryer. The thing is, instead of name brand Bounce sheets we are going through a box of bargain brand sheets. I don't think that my clothes are as fresh as they could be once they are dry.

It is also possible though that I really don't know what I am doing in regard to doing laundry. I do make an effort to fold the clothes neatly, but they still are a bit of a mess when I put there away. Very disappointing.

I'm gonna up my game for sure. I'm going Oxi-clean.

I learnt how to fold a fitted sheet into a nice square rather than a tumbled mess on you tube. Very interesting and looks so much nicer in the laundry cupboard too.

I can't even fold a t-shirt properly let alone a fitted sheet. You must have a talent for doing this. Or you are very patient. :)

I will check out some YouTube videos on proper folding techniques. Good idea of yours.

I hang my good tshirts up and fold the rest. There is a trick to folding them too if you can be bothered. I can't lol.
The trick to the sheets is lining the corners up so it forms a square and then you just go from there. I have practiced it many times over and have finally gotten the hang of it. Anklet socks are the worst, I mean how do you make them look neat. They are nice when you get them out of the packet but after a few washes they just look messy.

With the socks I just put the pair together, roll up and tuck them in. Hanging the t-shirts is faster than taking the time to fold them. My wife is an expert at folding clothes. I'm just an amateur.

Shirts are especially tricky to fold. Perhaps hang them up instead? Maybe you already do. Squaring everything according to seam lines first helps, as does laying on a flat surface to smooth out excessive wrinkles before/after folding. I then halve or third the item in folding, and sort according clothing type: top or bottom, sleeveless, short sleeves, long sleeves, warm weather, hot, bulky, light etc. I make each of these a separate pile and then they are easier to transport and redistribute to their proper resting place in the dresser drawers without mussing :D

You certainly have the knack of proper folding / care technique.

A thread on laundry? Lol It does remind me that I have a load in the dryer. Oh man!
This is how I fold fitted sheets. I grab 2 ends. I shake it out. I stick 1 corner in another. I think hard to remember what comes next. Drawing a blank, I proceed. After a few attempts, I get frustrated, crumple the sheet up in a ball, and toss it with the folded sheets. This has become a ritual for me. I suppose I could look online. SMH!
I'm watching the Masters. Tiger is playing good. I'm getting older. The sun is shining and it's warming up. Time to sit on the porch with a coffee, and sing a few songs for the squirrels. Things are looking up!
Elon's on Twitter's board and from the sounds of things, he's not wasting any time stirring things up! Lol
If we don't get nuked, I'm good to go!
Hey, this is like being at the laundry mat!

I was raised in a large family where laundry was done at least three times a week for thirteen people, with the biggest amount being done on Saturday. Doing laundry meant washing, drying, folding, and ironing in those days. Also in those days, at first we had a wringer washer sitting adjacent to two rinse tubs. We did have a dryer but also hung clothes to dry outside on the clothesline over the driveway, which meant taking the clothes down to allow a car in :giggle: Don't ask me how it all got sorted to return to the proper person. Did I really know which piece of clothing belonged to each family member? It is likely I did. Only the girls did laundry as part of the "housework."

I always enjoyed going to the laundry mat, especially when I was a single man. Good place to hang out. Even if we do get nuked we're good to go. :)

My mom and dad had 6 of us. Can't imagine how it would be like if the number of kids was more than double.

There were eleven kids ;) Plus parents = 13 :D My dad was raised in a family of six boys and six girls, whereas my mother only had four siblings, with one sister. Lotsa aunts, uncles, and cousins! Most of my siblings who had children of their own only had two. One sister alone had more than two, bringing four children into this world. I was the only one who had less than two, aside from those who had none :)

Sounds like the house I grew up in, though there were only 7 of us. I was terrified of that wringer!

I had less than 2 also. So did my wife. Both of our daughters are the same age (42). Well, Melisa, her daughter will be 42 on the 24th of this month. My daughter Jacklynee turned 42 on Sept 5 last year.

Yes, we were appropriately cautioned not to allow our hands get too close to the wringer since it could rip off our arm.

But also shown how to turn it off if such a catastrophe seemed imminent :D

The boys in our house prolly never got near it ;):giggle:

They did not cook, clean, or sew either.

Or do dishes.

Yeah, us boys and girls had our roles clearly defined. My parents did too, though they did what was required. When we were old enough, mum went to work at the K-Mart.
Mine will be 43 and 25.

My mother never worked outside the home after having children. She had been a teacher in a one-room school house before that, and did volunteer work after all had left the roost. Raising eleven children... we all wonder how in the world she did it LOL. Of course the oldest two girls and even the following first two boys helped look after the kids as they continued to come along. This carried on down the line even to me and my next two younger sisters as the youngest two were born, the youngest being eight years younger than I am. It is interesting talking about family matters with my siblings, especially since they help fill in the gaps of my own memories, as do I for them :D

Different world in olden days

I think I would have been completley bored as mother and wife if all I did was work at home raisng dozens of children, but then...going to work has been boring too, some jobs can be mind numbingly boring! However you get paid.

So I dont know, I was never raised to be a wife even though my mother is so hard on me for NOT doing all her housework for her.

its weird, the mixed messages girls get about their roles these days, what you can or cant do or what you are SUPPOSED to do.

Just let me be myself I suppose. I think if God wanted me as a wife for someone He would have said by now. lol. My mum hates being a wife and mother, she makes it clear how much she hates looking after us and what a burden I was like nearly every day, so I ran away when I was younger though I didnt know at the time you werent supposed to do that. funny huh and then when i did move out she begged me to stay.

?!
