Yeah... that distance thing is certainly a hindrance. What's meant to be, will be. :)

Need two CC examples?

Reborn- not going to work. :(
Tintin- worked out groovy!! :D

Now of course, each of our stories are completely different, with totally different situations....
Reborn- 1600 miles apart= A LOT of gas money.:(
Tintin- Just a hop, skip and a jump away. ( I assume they travel by Kangaroo down there,..... much, much cheaper!!:D)

I think they are a good idea sometimes. It's the 21st century, long distance relationships are totally possible. Technology has come a long way. Also, I think it could be a blessing in disguise. Think about it. Long distance causes two people to really get to know each other without the sexual temptation. Sometimes lust can get in the way of really getting to know someone.

I think the thing with long distance relationship is, that you have to be really sure that its the right person. I have some people around me who are or where in a long distance relationship. One of them is my sister. She met a guy in peru and was in a long distance relationship for about two years. They are now happily married. These two years weren't easy at all. Even though they saw each other twice a year for a couple of weeks, they had some up and downs. But the thing that kept them going, was knowing that God blessed their relationship and the promise that they would marry one day. And they did, just after two years of dating. My sister often says she would have liked keep dating for one more year, if he would have lived in switzerland as well. But because they got the date for their wedding from God and because they couldn't imagine doing this for much longer they married after such a short time. They are really happy now, but marring after such a short time (while most of these two years they didn't see each other) brought its difficulties.
An other person I know had a relationship with a guy from england, which recently ended. She saw him probably three to four times a year and talked with him everyday. But she was never really sure if he's they guy God wants her to be with. And at the end it was just to difficult to go further.
The thing is, that a normal relationship needs already much work and isn't always easy. With a long distance relationship you not only got the distance problem, but often you are from different cultures and backgrounds. Even if the person speaks your language and has a similar culture, you will alway have difficulties to fully understand them (meaning their opinions and thought about things).
Dont get me wrong. Im not against LDR. I think it can be a beautiful blessed thing. I just think you can't just go into a LDR without really thinking and praying about it. You have to realize that it will be freaking hart sometimes. And you just have to have the confirmation from God to have something to hold on to and get through difficult times.
Of course the LDR I'm talking about are not the once you live only 2 or 3 hours apart form each other. ;)

Very good post! :)

Aside from God leading the relationship and being the center/foundation (which should be the number 1 priority), often times two people are not on the same level; One might like the other more. In order for any LDR to work, it is imperative that both sides are 100% into it.

You can get away with not being fully into it for short periods of time when you live in close proximity to someone. Perhaps one date wasn't so smoothly for one person but then then a week later, you give them the benefit of the doubt and go out again only to realize this person is really interesting with potential for more (marriage partner hopefully). Unfortunately, LDRs don't have that luxury.
