I should confess, I started smoking again when I get depressed!!! 🥴 sigh... life...
My 41 year old daughter from Michigan made an unexpected short visit to our home in Tennessee this week with 4 of her 5 kids. Stayed a couple days. Got caught up on what was happening.

Now, I am a nicotine addict too and started smoking in my teens.

This year I made an effort to stop and did so in mid January. Yeah, I messed up a few times but not too bad and haven't had a smoke since March. Took the lozenges for a few months and stopped those last month.

The thing is, due to stress, and unknown to me, my daughter started smoking a year ago. Surprisingly, I was not tempted to sneak a smoke or two with her and totally refrained.

I understand about depression, and found that smoking provided a certain measure of comfort. I certainly enjoyed it anyway.

Years ago, I gave up alcohol. Now, I would still enjoy having a drink but I chose not to do so. I would still love to have a smoke but chose not to do so. Today.

Don't beat yourself up about this. The struggle is real.

"The sound of your footsteps, telling me that you're near. Your soft, gentle motion babe, brings out a need in me that no one can hear.."
From "Midnight Confessions" by Grass Roots

A forum for the one secret confession that you do not want revealed
but are brave enough to admit for all to see.

My name is tourist and I have a serious nicotine addiction. I once told God that I wanted quit smoking. He did not answer my prayer as He knew that I was lying to him. Perhaps when I am serious he will deliver me from this self-imposed affliction, and other things as well that do not belong in my life.
Smoking is not the unforgivable sin. A good friend of mine smoked for decades and was a strong Christian. When I first met him, I was shocked. The Lord pulled me up. He said, "It is not what goes into your mouth that defiles you. People's words offend me far more than cigarette smoking". That has stuck with me for 30 plus years. My friend gave up instantly when the Lord revealed the root cause of his smoking. He'd smoked for about 40 years. He never had a problem with his lungs - God protected him.

Satan kills people, not God and not smoking. The best reasons not to smoke are that it can offend other people, and it is money literally gone up in smoke. I know one thing, being a smoker brings out the religious nature of some Christians who enjoy judging others. I've never smoked, by the way.

Do you read other peoples confessions?
well I tend to do that because memoirs are often confessional literature.

I came across this book in the christian section called Placemakers and I thought it was going to be make your house into a home type book for christians.

But no, it turned out it was about this lady who was confessing she moved from a Chicago apartment to a Pennyslyvania farmhouse, and feeling a bit sorry for herself because she missed the community of living in Chicago, didnt like suburban Florida (in a temp move) and it turns out owning a crumbling farmhouse is a complete money pit.

she had to spend heaps of money on trees and maintenance, though I thought as I was reading why are you complaining lady...if God wanted you to move there wouldnt He provide??. She had four children and it was her dream home.

she learns in the end to love what she has got rather than miss what she doesnt have.

Paul said something in the bible about being content with what you have. It is hard to tell exactly, at least for me, where God wants me. Basically, I just go with the flow and make the best of the situation.

I'm a mess as well, but that's what makes God's glory even more beautiful!

I struggle with lust, impatience, getting easily offended, anger, lack of self confidence.

But through the love of Christ He is slowly transforming me and displaying what it means to live in His love everyday. Thank you God!
Gee... I experience NONE of that!:LOL:

You're not alone.

I have idols. I need them to be dislodged. I am trying. How badly do I want this? I don't know. I'm attached to them. But, I think God wants this, so I'm praying daily for it. I'm also trying to do a little mind work myself, but I find that almost impossible.

Are these sinful things? No. They're all good in and of themselves. And, I think God might grant them if they were not put on a par with Him (or put above Him) in my heart.

Holy moly. Wasn't he blown up in the last episode??
Yeah, I saw that episode. I believe that a helicopter took him out while he was hiding in a cave. He was my favorite character on that series.
