It is delicious! Much better than yesterday's :D It is like a hearty muffin dough :giggle:
I can taste the lemon and sweetness without it being overpowering. I am very happy about that :D

I made another one today :) This ^ ^ is from a "country-style" yeast-free bread recipe which again I did not follow religiously. For one thing, I wanted it to be kind of scone-like without being a scone, and the recipe called for twice as much flour (3 cups) as the scone I made yesterday, with a correspondingly increased amount of salt and baking powder. That I followed... but I do not buy milk so I used yoghurt again instead, and also the recipe did not call for maple syrup or lemon juice, both of which I added liberally :D Though this is twice as big as the one from yesterday, I had less blueberries to add to it. I brushed the top with lemon juice and yoghurt before sprinkling with organic sugar and putting in the oven to bake. The recipe had also called for liquid fat of any kind, but I used diced frozen butter instead. It is now cooling and I am going to eat a piece of it very soon :D
I am not a fan of scones but that looks good and I would take a taste if I could.....pictures are such a tease....

Hello Darlene! This recipe was for a country style bread which I slightly altered by memory to include some of the scone ingredients... I had never made either bread or scones before, and was quite pleased with how they both turned out, especially the second one (today's), which was kind of like a very large muffin.. or a coffee cake? I have been reading up on different types of flours, also, because the first recipe did not specify, and so I used all purpose, when probably a cake flour may have been preferable. One of the things I learned in my research was that adding corn starch will transform all purpose flour into something closer to cake flour. I will have to experiment with that :D

It is so easy to make! Seriously, the hardest part is cutting up the frozen butter into "pea-sized pieces."(Though truth be told, my butter is not cut quite that small LOL.) I may try applesauce instead one of these times... it is a great substitute for oil/fat, cuts down the calorie count, increases the healthy quotient, and you really cannot tell the difference :D I have never been afraid to experiment when cooking or baking, though I have found living alone to be not really conducive to either. It was fun getting my hands right into the dough to mix it after a certain point, and I also rolled the whole ball of dough in extra flour before adding to the pan to help it not stick to the buttered pan.

"The sound of your footsteps, telling me that you're near. Your soft, gentle motion babe, brings out a need in me that no one can hear.."

A forum for the one secret confession that you do not want revealed
but are brave enough to admit for all to see.

My name is tourist and I have a serious nicotine addiction. I once told God that I wanted quit smoking. He did not answer my prayer as He knew that I was lying to him. Perhaps when I am serious he will deliver me from this self-imposed affliction, and other things as well that do not belong in my life.
Hey Tourist.... I used to go buy tobacco when I was really, really stressed out and one time I had gone years and years without it and then there I was at it again, and I heard the words ( not audibly).... " The Devil wants you to smoke because he wants to kill you!"
It really put me off... and in the last 10 years since then I have had blips but it damages my singing voice and my breathing so much that I don't even like it anymore.... anyways I hope I have been some help and that you don't mind me saying.... and as for sharing a secret.... oh my... I just couldn't 🙈

I get into fights with my mother sometimes over very insignificant things. But I argue to the point that it makes me sick, and leaves my mother weeping. We never have really gotten along, it's complicated. But that's one sin that I must confess, I was never right to say some of the things I've said to my mother and I must be cleansed of this sin to be forgiven, therefor I confess I have sinned.
I am the mother of 5 kids, some of whom are grown up now..... they have all said some very hurtful things to me...
I can't tell you how much it would mean to me if they came to me and said what you have said on here....x

I have a similar experience but with alcohol. Although not a raging alcoholic or anything, I was a problem drinker. I made insincere attempts in the past to quit but always started again. Recently, during a long walk through the woods, I made a promise to God that I would quit my negative drinking. I was very careful about what I promised tho; I did not promise to never have a drink again in celebration with friends or take wine with communion or anything like that, I just promised to stop the negative drinking like drinking alone or because I was sad/lonely/depressed. I am sure God heard this heartfelt promise and I for sure will never break it.

I promised temperance.

Good luck, friend.

EDIT: Lol i just realized i responded to a post from 2014. oh well, still happy to share 😇

It doesn't matter the year in this thread as all posts are relevant. I used to make promises to God too but stopped doing that years ago when I read in the counsel in scripture saying let your yes be your yes and your no being your no and to not go beyond that. I commend you in addressing the problem with the alcohol. I understand full well also about sad/lonely/depressed. I get that. I'm quite certain that God heard your heartfelt promise, but even if you were happen to break it He would forgive you.

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I am not sure that the devil wants to kill the one that is tempted to smoke but probably takes great delight in the probable subsequent suffering years later. It is a good thing that you don't like it anymore. Maybe I won't like it anymore too. Perhaps that is the key to stopping. It could be that you have been a great help to me.
