Hello Everyone,

God is always teaching me something about myself that I need to change:

  • I need to realize that the future things, which are the secret things, belong to the Lord. And when I try to figure out the future, I am grasping at things that are God's.
  • Worrying(Matt. 6) or trying to figure out the future, is an act of rebellion. I am doubting God's promises to take care of me.
  • When I find myself worrying about the future, I need to repent and return to God. God, then, will show me the next step forward.
  • I need to just relax and enjoy the spiritual journey in God's Presence, trusting Him to open up the way before me.

Scriptures based on this(Jesus Calling by Sarah Young):
Deuteronomy 29:29
Psalm 32:8

Give specific, contextual scripture showing that worrying about the future is a sin and in need of repentance. Matthew 6 does not say that.

Excuse me ma'am or sir, but I write these posts in the hope to encourage others. I am not so sure about your question. If you read the whole chapter of Matthew 6, it does talk about worry, starting off in verse 25. I did not think I had to get any deeper than that, but just trying to share what I got out of my readings from the book that I had mentioned about in my post. May God Bless You and hope you have a blessed weekend!

Pink screen names are for females, blue for males making it easy to identify a man or a woman. You have a blessed weekend too. :)

The bible does say to not worry about tomorrow because today may have enough worries as it is. That does not mean that you should not be wise in planning ahead because that's just being a good steward of what God has given you to work with. If your worrying about something in the future it is probably a sign that this is not your concern at the moment so just relax.

I've heard it said that there is a difference between planning and worrying. If you're obsessing about something outside your control, you're probably not trusting God. But if you expect him to take care of the petty details of life without you planning anything...well, problems.

As I said, I did read it. It says nothing about sin or repentance.

"Worry - When you can't fix something but you keep trying to figure out how to fix it anyway."

But nothing in the Bible says it's a sin, or rebellion, or anything to repent of.

Worrying is not a sin. In itself, it isn’t an act of rebellion, either- but it’s a symptom of a potentially rebellious attitude, which is lacking faith and not trusting God. Basically, if you’re worried all the time, you don’t believe that God will take care of you, or you don’t believe what the Bible tells us about our worth, or God’s plans or timing or love for us. The further we sink into worry and anxiety, the more likely many of us are to simply go our own way and try to control our lives ourselves. That’s where rebellion comes in, and often sinful behavior is a part of that. I think worry is just the first step down a slippery slope, which is why we are told in so many verses not to worry, not to be anxious, and to put our trust in the Lord. Better not to start down the path in the first place.

...I say this as I sit here feeling anxious about my entire day...

Yeah, but when you joined this site you said you were looking for more to read AND you wanted to develop friendships. So far, you haven't needed help finding stuff to read, but you haven't let us know anything about you, personally, to develop a friendship. So far, it seems you think your purpose is to record what you're reading to benefit others.

Given I'm not into reading self-help books, I'd rather get to know what you think, rather than what you just read.

And, yes, since you also posted this on another forum, I must admit, I've been finding it amusing that someone not even close to retirement age, doesn't want to deal with the fact that you will probably have a future. No where in the Bible does it say don't plan for the future.

It seems your overabundance of self-help books clouds God's word to you.

I'm worried that I worry too much.
