Quick update for a couple curious people-

The woman I was supposed to have a phone conference with on Thursday blew me off. No progress on that front. But I'm going to keep trying, call again, figure it out.

Things are moving at a snail's pace right now because it's so hard to get people's time. Not sure what to do but wait, and keep trying.

So...that's all.

Hmm, that's not what I hoped to hear. Keep trying to reach a good organization who will support you. Most of these organizations would get many proposals like this, so you need to do a lot of convincing to get them onboard.

I was wondering how things were progressing with this.

Ya know...I was thinking about some of the things I went through when newly separated, and even now...
I think one of the biggest economic challenges is learning how to shop and cook for a smaller family, or for the family for part of the week, and just oneself for the remainder of the week.

It seems like a little thing, but it changes shopping and cooking habits drastically. An example: I am not much of a milk drinker, but hated paying for a small container of milk for the kids when those gallon things are so cheap - but you have to buy two (a WIC thing - I don't know if that pricing goes for the rest of the nation). It would have been nice to buy things in bulk, then divvy them up with other single parents. I sometimes do this with another single parent now, but it would have been nice when money was really tight. I think this sort of thing would be ideal for your group.

Just my 2 cents:

1. If you do not have all you need to start at a very large scale, you can always start with what is available to you. For example, if you do not have the resources to run 24/7 hotlines, you can begin with couple of hours per day. As the demand grows, your will be able to meet them.
2. Experience is one way God uses to shape us into the work He has called us to do. I am sure you know what that means to you.

Cris!

I think this is a fabulous idea! I'm not a single parent but so many single parents feel alone and this would give them a sense of relief and support. I will be praying for this ministry of yours. :)
