Exactly my brother! Exactly,.. But I'm thinking: "what do you mean by metaphorically?". Isn't the alive in Christ walkin among the dead concept actually Literal? Because the "alive" and "dead" being spoken of here is that of Spurirual death and life, which is in fact Literal, am I right?
Agreed. Thank you for correcting me on this. :)

I see all this as a "God helps those who help themselves" kind of thing. I don't think it's spiritually productive to become obsessed with prepping, just like it's not good to become obsessed with anything. But I also don't think it's right to neglect our survival, either, in the event of a disaster or emergency...I don't think there's anything wrong with using our God-given brains to think a bit about the future and stock up on a few things.

Don't tell that to Noah! :D

Just kidding, MissCris. :)

Thanks, Oceangrl. :) If you ever need a pilot to fly you somewhere, I'm at your service! :D
Hmm, thanks for the offer... but do you actually know how to fly or would you be winging it (pun intended). lol

There's always the possibility that the doomsday-prepper will die of illness or misadventure before the doomsday event comes to pass, in which case the individual's remaining time on Earth will have been wasted hiding in a panic room or bugout shelter. Did anyone see that episode of The Simpsons where Homer becomes a survivalist?

I really do know how to fly. :) Someone my boss knew owned a Cessna Skylane and he let me take the controls for the entire flight. He knew that I had spent years flying a flight simulator program with realistic controls at home so he let me give it a try and he said he couldn't believe that I'd never flown a plane before. The only thing I didn't do was make radio calls and land because we were at a major airport where there were airliners lined up behind us. I flew the plane for an hour with no autopilot. :) Its trickier than most people think because you have to know how to balance aileron, rudder, thrust and pitch. Not balancing stuff makes can make the plane lose or gain speed or altitude or put it in a stall.

That's great, but you need to learn how to take off and land before I'd get on a plane with you behind the wheel. :p

I do know how to do those things and navigate too with or without GPS. The simulator I use is very accurate. I have controls just like a real plane at home. That's why I was able to fly the plane without any help. He just wouldn't let me land because it was a busy airport and I've never flown before :p

A simulator is different from the real thing... :p

Without God, there is no preparation for things to come. Noah would not have known what was coming nor known what to do. It is only by His Spirit that are able to know.

Not as much as you might think. One of the simulators I use is approved by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as a professional pilot training device. They are the ones who issue pilot licenses.

Its ok lol. I understand how you'd be worried. :D I've been in Cessnas sitting right beside the pilot as they landed so I already see with my own eyes what they do when they land, but still I understand your worry. :)

I agree about stocking up. Genesis 41 (God using Joseph to interpret Pharaoh's dreams of feast and famine) shows us this.

I don't know that I want to be obsessive though. For me, to be obsessive about anything is distracting and would show a lack of faith on my part.

Grrr at the server edit time limit thingie :)

What I wanted to add is that, even knowing hard times were coming and things were going to get ugly, Joseph didn't freak out and barricade himself in a bunker with a stockpile of weaponry. He went about things in an orderly fashion and steadily set aside a reasonable amount of food (one-fifth from each bountiful year).

And can you imagine having to clean the outside of 30000000000000000 buckets of wheat at least 20 times a day. Oh my.

Agreed. When we find ourselves acting in fear, we are no longer acting in faith. How do we receive faith? By hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

There certainly is a difference between a survival nut and a servant of God.
