My most rewarding chore is probably vacuuming. My least favorite... Is cooking considered a chore? Well, for me it is. And it's my least favorite. :p
You can't say vacuuming! That was my answer *poke

I had a job doing carpet cleaning for a while. And there's actually better ways to go across carpets. I had one ex-gf complain because she would vacuum, and then i would and she could tell a difference. Same vacuum, same floor, haha.

Least favorite is anything involving strong chemicals. I am sensitive to them and have trouble breathing even just walking down an isle in the store where they are kept.

I'm actually surprised I like vacuuming, after my childhood. My mother was a bit OCD and would actually time me while vacuuming. If I didn't take long enough (going s-l-o-w to pull the individual fibers up) she would make me do it over.

Doesn't carpet cleaning... involve chemicals...? :p

Least favourite:
Dusting. I honestly don't see the point in doing it. Everything stays pristine for .5 of a second and then it's all dusty again.

Most rewarding:
Drying the dishes isn't much of an issue.
but...but...but...won't they dry eventually anyway? :)

Hmm... while that's true, dishes tend to leave a smearing water-mark if they're not dried.
That's because you have hard water there, because you Aussies are tough and rugged.

We have soft water...because we Americans are soft.

....but your water still flows the wrong way when flushed.
Incidentally, did you know toilets on the equator flush straight down?

*raises hand slowly* Am I too late to join in on the Beethoven party? :D

Hellooo: I LOVE THAT PIECE. I bet you play it beautifully!

I'm currently working on Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op. 10 No. 2, in F major. :)

Loveneverfails...internet high five!

I listened to the youtube clip, what a beautiful piece. And challenging.

Here's a question for you, PopClick , Shouryu, and CatHerder -- what are all of YOUR favorite go-to classical pieces to play? Also, how did you guys get started with playing your instruments in the first place?

I am currently working on this ^^^^^^
and have it down fairly well. I love Debussey's music.

I am also working on mvt. 1 (the Sarabande is the 2nd mvt.) but that is much harder, and incredibly fun.

I guess my favorite "go to" fast piece would be Granados' Spanish Dance No. 5 (Playera), and my favorite slow piece would be Mendelssohn's "Consolation," from his Songs Without Words.

My favorite horn piece is Saint-Saen's "Morceau de Concert."

To everyone:

What is something you have always wanted to do or learn, but have not tried yet? What, if anything, is stopping you?

Shouryu: I have to disagree about the second prelude sounding better on clarinet. The first and third, sure. But the second, I had already fallen in love with a solo piano version that's been on my ipod for years.

Hellooo: My favorite piece to play is Offenbach's Infernal Galop. Kind of like in this clip, but I play it a little lower and little more... forte.

I started playing keyboard when someone gave me a 49-key keyboard that hooked up to a computer when I was... I think I was 12? I don't practice that much, which probably means that I don't love keys as much as I could. :(

A little spit will take care of that. :D Works well for removing anything/everything from your kid's face too! You're welcome!

I've wanted to learn saxophone and violin. Saxophone I have. Just gotta find the time to learn it. Violin, I have one but doesn't hold a tune.

For lack of feeling somewhat like a third wheel otherwise, my desire for involvement leads me to this post.

I guess I could do my own, since I am part of "everyone"...I think.

I have been wanting to learn to play harp for a while. What was holding me back was the money for rental and lessons. I picked up a couple more students and a PT job teaching band to private school kiddies, so that's not the issue any more. What is holding me back is I am in the middle of a project getting stuff organized and have no place at the moment to put it. When I get my act together, I'll do it. It will probably be my Christmas present from me to me.

I've always wanted to be a wombat.

I think maybe it's obvious what's stopping me.

Hmmm. Just because I've got it under my fingers in such a way that I can pull it out with virtually no preparation at any given moment (even though I don't own an A clarinet), would have to be the Mozart Concerto, K.622. I also have the Weber Concertino fairly well ingrained as well.

Since I don't play traditional saxophone (didn't study it much, because it's so similar to traditional clarinet, except all 20th century literature), my go-to's are jazz charts. On tenor, I can play the heads and changes to Black Orpheus and Dear Old Stockholm. On alto, Take Five or Straight, No Chaser.

As for HOW I came to play the clarinet, that's a little embarrassing. The pretty blonde girl picked clarinet, and I wanted to sit next to her...so I picked clarinet, too. If I had to go back and do it all over again, I'd pick trombone. LOOOOOOVE playing trombone.

I can totally see you as a trombone player.

That wasn't meant to be insulting....maybe.

Not to mention the color of one's wallet, when they have to go in for medical attention!
Ask my sister... the emergency room charges an arm and a leg for a 15 second examination and a steroid prescription!!! She went to a doc-in-a-box first but they freaked out and sent her to the E-room.

To everyone:

How come we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?
