bubble baths, I like to go underwater and pretend that I could live there like a mermaid for a few minutes before resurfacing......it has the added benefit of not having to change diapers or breakup fights because you can't hear them.

lol, i normally don't get to take baths unless their dad is home, but that normally helps me snap out of it.

other things:

garden, bike ride, swimming, playing at the beach, painting, dancing, reading a good book, listening to worship music, talking to a good friend, getting a hug from a loved one, watching my kids laugh and play...

there is probably more but I'm going to take a nap/sleep for the night. that helps too :)

Go onto CC and vent, laugh and listen to the stories of others. Streams has been quite insightful and helpful in this regard.
Watch LoTR or The Hobbit because it's full of so much hope :)

I feel so stupid when I watch the L.O.T.R. Trilogy...I still get choked up every time...pathetic. I watched last month with the cast commentary on & still I wanted to ball my eyes out like 5 times. No wonder I can't get a date.LOL

-Put my running clothes on, then get in the car and drive to 7 11 where i can buy food to eat my sorrows away. Happiness really is in the bottom of a quart of ice cream.

-Buy a bunch of clothes i don't need with a bunch of money i don't have.

-Lay in bed and feel sorry for myself

-Go over my sisters house, park behind her 2017 lexus, lay on her 1,000,000,000 count cotton egyptian sheets, watch the 60 inch t.v. she has mounted on her bedroom wall and eat her sons chocolate poptarts....... (my life sucks)

-Call my mommy and complain

I will pray, go on CC, complain to arwen :p, go for a drive, drink some iced tea, write, praise, call or text my bestie, watch a movie, read, but honestly I don't have to go past praying too often. God is abundantly faithful.

I specifically said praising in my list, because while prayer is sometimes effective, I find that instead of just asking God to lift my spirits, praying for joy, if I just focus on praising Him and thanking Him for all the blessings I have, it's pretty much a 100% success rate for me. I can be grouchy all I want, until I acknowlege that He has me in the palm of His hand, and I have so much when others have so little...and it's all by HIS grace and HIS abundance. It may not get me bouncing off the walls, but it gets me out of the valley, that's for sure.

What are some things you guys do to get yourself out of a funk? I'm not talking about depression, that's serious business; just...whaddya do to shake off the blues?
- Costco Ice Cream Bar - its like a giant Dove bar the size of your hand, dipped in chocolate and covered with crushed almonds. It works every time.

- Indulge in favorite junk food. In my case it would either be KFC, philly cheesesteak, greasy chinese food with fried rice, In-n-Out burger, pizza, etc.. (now I'm hungry)

- Watch/rent a movie

- Talk to a friend (if only I had one I could talk to)

- Go for a drive

- Go shopping

- Play my drums

- Play video games

- If its really serious I'll drive 45 minutes to the beach and walk along the sand or sit in the sand and watch the waves and talk to God.

- Also if its serious I go to the chapel in my church which is open everyday til 9pm and I'll just sit, pray and be in the presence of God.

Well, i'm more prone to depression than 'funk', but sometimes it can help to sing songs that have the word 'funk' in it. Its a fun word. 'weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee've got the funk...........' ... 'play that funky music, whitebooooooooooooooooooy' =D

Absolutely! Praising is a great way to remember that God is still God and nothing is too hard for Him. Prayer works for me because it's going to my dad for love and advice. I grew up fatherless and I basically raised myself. I know that I can go to my abba and he makes all things right. He also lovingly puts me in my place and reminds me of my part in the situation. I can't control others, but I can control myself. Most often I am simply reminded that I'm loved and wanted by the creator of the universe and that causes me to praise him.

It amazes me how we all have different ways of approaching our emotional stress. People are interesting creatures.

dude, you are So right... I just need to put together some Lagos.

...but never can seem to find that kit on the store shelves, & I think I'd need to borrow Nod's sister's Credit Card (the other CC) to be able to bring it home.

I also like to go on drives or walks and spend time, not just in prayer, but in thanks. I think about and thank God for everything in my life. "A thankful heart is a happy heart" is sooooo true. :D

One thing I'm "learning" to do, Wich has been the hardest and most uncomfortable ... Is just sitting still before God.. not "doing" anything .. I am finding those times are actually resolved faster.. I come out if them quicker and I waste no money ..
