I dunno HOW true this is... I got this off the interwebs after all...but for those males out there: Apparently when women speak to men they find attractive, their voice hightens in tones. Might be higher or softer.

Well, I'm off to bed. The time that I spent off here and Facebook was nice. I noticed as soon as I did, I found myself drifting to sleep easier and would wake up to a big smile on my face. I am thinking it was the break away from online that did it.

To me exceptional is -

* To be bold, courageous and passionate about your ideals

* To not give into herd mentality

* To be unafraid of what others think of you, their opinions are not before God

* To see the depth in others.

* To push for the truth, to see the narcissism behind faux spirituality

* To look forward to correction, to pain, to growth

As I get older though, and more people grow up and get more set in their ways, my greatest fear is that the numbers of people who would get that depth and that passion would only dwindle.

That outlier section will always be lonely.

considering i've been AWOL for a bit, this was a welcome post to stumble upon. i love this, and made me glad i took the time to read this before i pretended to be going to bed.

a few more things that i would add in addition to your list:

+to be ok to do things your way. even if they don't make sense to anyone else. you don't owe anyone an explanation of why you're building "arc".

+finding joy in small and tiny delights. to see the beauty and sublime in the ordinary, the silly and being able to laugh at yourself along the way.

+not only to see, but expect those mercies that are new every morning.

+to never allow your so-called "obligations" trump an ordained moment to share, to encourage, to empathize and simply show hospitality and love to someone who has been placed in your path--never by accident. to anyone, even the unlovely, the unfamiliar, and those who make you uncomfortable.

and because it is worthy of repeating, i will highlight this again.

That outlier section will always be lonely.

or at the very least, a quiet journey, single-file, full of shifty switchbacks, leaving one constantly seeking their footing. usually lacking big green USFS signs and guardrails, too often outside of the cell phone range, with only that folded map for navigation.

and that's just fine. choosing this adventure isn't for the weak--but you can't beat the view.

anyway... the last 12 days or so has been quite a struggle.

it's been a challenge in several ways, some with personal goofiness, stubborn realization, at least one very awkward hug/situation, but the primary triumph was that i managed to escape a coronary from the egregious displays of buttheadedness associated with work.

after tomorrow, i should be back on track and will do my best to return with the same kind loquacious posting and spazzy harassment you all expect from me. ; p

also, look for the new book circle thread questions for discussion this week, and i apologize for the minor delay in getting started. i'm excited for what God has in store for all of us this fall.

am i the only one who hears that Voice reminding me to buckle my seatbelt?

interesting, thanks for sharing arwen.

additionally, i can validate this.

generally, when i i find myself in the company of men whom i am not particularly attracted to, my voice seems very quiet.

like, non-existent.

so soft that you can't hear a word. : D

Today morning I had the butterfly song running in my head. I don't know why I was reminded of it suddenly. But I like the song. :)

The Butterfly song (If I were a butterfly)

Words and music by Brian M. Howard

If I were a butterfly
I'd thank you Lord for giving me wings
If I were a robin in a tree
I'd thank you Lord that I could sing
If I were a fish in the sea
I'd wiggle my tail and I'd giggle with glee
But I just thank you Father for making me, me

CHORUS
For you gave me a heart and you gave me a smile
You gave me Jesus and you made me your child
And I just thank you Father for making me, me
Used to sing this song in preschool (yes I went to a christian preschool). Oh the memories… or lack thereof as it was a very long time ago.

I retract my prayer request since there seems more debate than prayer over it.
Too bad. I won't retract my prayers for you. :p

Don't discount those who may have seen your request and prayed without leaving a response. :) we care for you and I'm so glad that you share your burdens with us.

Another physical issue...

My right hand has been bothering me a few weeks. Past 2 days its gotten much worse. Very swollen and red. Had a clinic visit today for my usual check up and doc there wouldn't even attempt to do anything so he is sending me to an orthopedic specialist tomorrow afternoon. I already have an appointment with the vascular specialist tomorrow morning to check on the arm phlebitis. So please pray nothing serious with my hand. Its very painful, even to touch. A soft blanket rubbed against it and it hurt. Have almost no use of my right hand because the pain it causes. Typing with one hand now. Thanks.
Im so sorry I missed this my brother .....
I come to thank you Father God for my brother ugly...for giving him comfort as You heal his hand..
for showing him we truly care for him....and the appreication we have for his wisdom....
I thank you in Jesus,s name........amen....

Just got back from the doc. He had a scan done and said i have a superficial clot (again). So i've cancelled the appointment with the orthopedics guy. So, basically, i'm not supposed to hardly use my right hand for a while. Which isn't that hard since i can barely use it anyways.

Everyone has their own thorn their side. Mine just happens to be depression, one of the least understood things out there.

I will pray for you right now brother. Our God is a Healer.

Father, I pray for Ugly and the pain in his right hand. Lord, you have shown that there is a clot in his hand. Heal the pain in his hand and remove the clot, Father. You are the Maker of this body and you know how to remove the clot. I ask that you restore Ugly's right hand to its healthy state. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I'm glad it wasn't something that needed an orthopedic doctor, but it sounds very painful anyway. I'm praying for you Ugly. Are you right handed? How's it feeling today?

I'm left handed, but i still do a lot with my right as well. And it hurts so much i can't do much with it anyways. Typing or using a mouse even hurts. Though at the moment it's not hurting as much. I've been taking pain meds which helps, but makes me sleepy and fuzzy brained. So bleh.

The developmentally disabled man I am supporting and I are currently at his community garden. After watering and weeding, he likes to sing to his veggies. Usually they are Irish folk songs or sea chanties. Today, he brought sheet music to "On Top of Old Smokey." My job rocks sometimes!

Bonus: a little old lady had a bumper crop of peppers and practically forced me to take some off her hands. Got onions and celery, and I think some shrimp in the freezer. Looks like a creole cookin' night!

How long does it usually take to start feeling better? Meh... sleep isn't a bad thing. If I'm hurting I'd rather be sleeping and oblivious anyway. :p Someone wake me up when it's over!

*hugs for Ugly*
