My cat is being super adorable right now. Snuggled up beside me and closed his eyes. I love him.

It's time now for me to slap an "Out of Order" sign on my forehead and call it a day.

As long as you don't run across people who push your buttons harder thinking "Surely this will work if the battery is dead, pushing the same button with more, repeated force."

:p

(I am one of those people actually so I can't judge)

Yesterday I used a steak knife instead of scissors to cut some zip ties. The steak knife was closer... Let's just say my pointer finger and thumb regret my decision.

On the topic of paying taxes (or fines) for things you don't agree with...also on the topic of government in general-

Romans 13:1-7New International Version (NIV)

Submission to Governing Authorities

"13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. [SUP]5 [/SUP]Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor."

That's kind of a hard pill to swallow because the governing authorities DON'T exactly have the good of the people in mind (I should say SOME authorities- politicians, particularly). But even so, we are to follow the laws of the land and pay whatever we owe according to those laws. The Bible doesn't say "Follow only the laws that make sense to you" or "Pay only what you FEEL you owe".

It's kind of a raw deal, sure. But there are more important battles for us to fight than thumbing our nose at government/authority that simply wants us to do ridiculous things. Why make trouble for yourself over something that's so inconsequential in the grand scheme of things? Why not wait to stand your ground against something that actually effects your spiritual welfare and goes against God's word?

It may sound hard today, but back when it was written the government had even more power and was executing Christians. Only other comment I want to make on the whole health insurance debacle (one more good reason to keep living overseas) is that all that money they collect in fines / taxes from those uninsured should be put in a special fund to reimburse hospitals for bills that aren't paid because people are uninsured.

everyone has a black skirt.
Not even everyone female has a black skirt.

catching up on some threads. some posts kind of burned my toast, got my knickers in a twist [insert favorite expression for "got ticked off" here].

Do I respond in anger? Do I tell them that they are wrong? Do I get on my soapbox and go into lecture mode? Do I take a break from CC? Do I just "like" the posts that have already responded to the other one?

What do other people do? Do they pray before posting? It is probably good that I have to go to rehearsal soon and don't have time to construct a response. I prefer to pray by my couch, but will pray on the car ride over there.

grrrr
My strategy:

Like posts that express the point of view I support without being name calling or vilifying.
If everything I would say has already been said stay out of it.
If I have something to add, post it in a very factual way being sure to stick to what was said and not attack someone's character or state assumptions as facts (lots of use of words like seem to, come across as, sounds like, etc.).
If person proves himself (or herself) incapable of responding to such a post. The options are to unleash brutally honest or sarcastically mocking cinder and / or click the ignore button (or report button if there is something to report).

Then remind self that world is full of idiots and that they seem to concentrate on the internet, but that I've also met some really good people on CC so it's probably still worth wading through the idiots.

It's nice to have a semi clean room. Will continue organizing and cleaning tomorrow. I can sleep knowing I did good today.

Not at all, bro. :p

So, I woke up in the morning and I checked CC. I looked at the "Is it okay for men to cry" thread and I went -

Honestly, bro. This is super awkward. You need to stop Bluetoothing my selfies to your phone.

Uhm, I didn't do that. Lynx sent me this picture with a message "Look at Tintin! rofl! XD". You may want to ask him about that.

Oh, and a word of advice - it is better to sneak up behind him when he is licking some dark chocolate off his paws.

What are you guys spending all your money on?! :D
Income taxes
Taxes on what is in the bank after the income taxes
Taxes on the house depending on how large it is (if one is lucky enough to own and not rent)
Taxes on groceries and entertainment
etc

Speaking of which, do you know what a crawfish is? It's a lobster after taxes.

And don't believe Roh_Chris. I had nothing to do with that picture. And I would never get dark chocolate on my paws - that's a waste of good chocolate. I'm careful not to spill it.

Man, an extra hour of sleep is all the world of difference. Can we do delayed start every day? This 7:45 business is for the birds; school needs to start at 9:45 all the time. Just move the end of the school day to 5:15. No worries for me, I already stay at work until 6 most days anyway...

The clothes I ordered yesterday for the party tonight will be here in just a couple hours. The room at the hotel where the party is taking place is paid for.

And my MIL, who was going to stay the night at our house with the kiddos, has just been informed that she can't have the night off after all, because she was the last one to request tonight off, and even though they TOLD her she was off, she now has to work or else risk losing her job.

Everyone else I know who I would trust to watch my kids even for a few hours are all going to the party. So, really, only my mom or my brother.
Why the heck does everyone all work at the same place?!

*sigh*
