I can't verify if it was indeed aliens who decided to delete some of the posts from yesterday to confuse us, but I do notice that posts from yesterday are missing. I had trouble logging in earlier today and may be it is related.

it's a cold monday. and it's raining. and no one has candy to share lol

This is how I've been Dealing with the winter cold weather walking situation. I don't have a treadmill so I walk at the mall. I have a friend that walks with me a couple times a week, but even if I'm alone it's not as boring as a treadmill. I wear a pedometer to track and they play some almost decent music. Just a thought

I wonder why people just post an article, but don't say anything about why they shared it. Or a scripture which may be vague when taken in the context of the discussion, but with no explanation why they chose that particular verse - or as is most often the case, that particular word wall of verses. Then I risk appearing less spiritually mature if I don't "get it."

ah well...at least I'm glad they have mastered cutting and pasting. That right mouse click is important to know.

My thoughts only.........there are times when someone will post their thoughts/opinions on a particular thread......and almost ALWAYS someone else will post right back............."Oh yeah? Prove that in Scripture......" or something similar.

Then there are times when the posting of a Scripture should suffice to not only show what the Word of God says, but which Scripture the poster believes is relevant to the topic of discussion.

Nothing is EVER wrong with posting Scripture. Why belittle someone for doing so? No need to. Not being mean, just saying.

Then there are times when the posting of a particular Scripture MAY BE intended to relieve some anger or frustrated feelings going on in a debate......by reminding others about Christian love.

Anyway, my thoughts...........

actually, i hate this so much. seriously, you have no idea. like, a coronary playground right there.

i find cutting and pasting scripture without commentary or supportive logic an abuse of scripture. they're not your words, and you don't get to use them as your own, even if they're cited.

these are sacred, holy words, not something you can use for your drive-by post. and if you can't draw a relationship between your thoughts and the words you're using, i'm going to assume there just may be no thoughts. ; p

or often, it reads as a jesus juke.

and yeah, i'm not a mind reader.

You must be talking about dear old Dad. You know what blueorchid? I'm gonna stick my neck out here and just tell you what I think of you. I think "you apart".

See, one time this Asian woman I knew who hadn't really mastered the english language told me that she had observed that I would not always follow the piper that led the masses. I would take her down other pathways, interesting roads - less traveled and sometimes exotic. She said she didn't think the english word "different" was quite right because that didn't take in all that she wished to express. She felt I wasn't "different" but rather that I wasn't even present! She finally settled on what I considered the biggest compliment paid to me. She said "you apart".

So whenever you post you take me down all these little blueorchid rabbit holes and I never know where I'm going to end up. I think that's a very special gift and probably exotic fruit that maybe didn't fall all that far from the ....tree. Now, I don't pretend to know all the dynamics with you and your dad but I've experience this kind of discourse with my own dad. I think God includes honoring our father and mother as a basic human truth and Godly law for a reason. God included it, in my case, to remind me personally of the traits I have now. My dad was "apart" and left me with a value to discern where i might not have thought to without him. I suspect your dad leaves you with his gifts as well and right now i'm praising God He did.

Sounds like you need to add a new signature Catherder. Something along the lines of : "I'm glad you've learned to use your copy and paste buttons. Do you have any intelligent thoughts to contribute?"

Ok that's not nice, but I agree I find it very annoying when people simply post a Bible verse in a discussion and don't bother discussing (or including context or take a scripture out of context). Quoting Bible verses simply is not a substitute for thinking and interpreting on your own (especially if you have a point that you intend to make with said Bible verse).

But mostly I think people do it to appear holier than thou or to try to make their position unarguable against since if you argue with them then you must be arguing with God because look i have Bible backup.

Oh someone make an Inigo montoya meme please: You keep using that verse.. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I've got no problem with people posting scripture and am certainly not belittling anyone for doing so. And it's fine to post scripture in a good, healthy debate to support your position that you may have established in a previous post. But when someone comes up with a verse that is not directly related with no explanation why they chose that particular scripture, it can be confusing. Scripture has also been used in less loving ways, as a weapon of condemnation.

And as for the cutting and pasting of articles. I would like to see some sort of analysis. Do they agree the article? all or just part? disagree? Are they opening up some of the topics for discussion?

I was just working on an example, then read your last comment.......... :)

1 Corinthians 10:13 .) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

(but it's getting really, really close Lord, where did You put that exit?)

:)

Anyway.........I like to see Scripture used in comments........but I also understand they can be misused.

Just so I understand what is and what is not acceptable concerning the posting of Scripture. Let me pose a couple of examples for consideration.

1) An unbeliever and a believer are in a very heated argument on a particular thread. I happen to read the thread, and do not want to get caught up in the heated exchanges going on, but I do want to give encouragement to my fellow brother in Christ, so I post the following Scripture:

1 John 4:12 .) Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 .) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 .) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 .) But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
16 .) Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

This would be UNACCEPTABLE?

Ok,
2) Same exact situation as stated above...............with the ONLY difference being that my post would look like this:

Brother (insert name), do not fret over all this, remember what Peter said:

1 Peter 4:12 .) Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

This would be ACCEPTABLE?

Seriously, not joking with anyone, just trying to determine the boundaries for posting Scripture.

WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Today when I woke up I looked out the window and the roads were clear. Half an hour later I looked out and the roads were solid sheets of lovely wonderful ICE! I love driving on ice!

No I'm not being sarcastic or even facetious. I had a ball driving to work today.

Also nine people called in so I stayed far later than originally planned. So did everyone else who was not scared to drive today. A few people gonna get some overtime this week. :D :D :D

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
