Once again I wake up and there is snow on the ground... and on the trees... and on the road... learning to drive in northeast TN is making me very popular at work because I'm one of the very few who will actually show up today. Yay for overtime!
The first time I ever legally drove a car with a learner's permit, I say legally because I had a neighbor friend who let me drive his car in a parking lot once and a while. Anyhow my Birthday is February, I got my Learner's Permit ASAP. I drove in a lot of snow. It was kind of hard but I'm glad I did because around here if you don't know how to drive in snow you might as well hibernate all winter. I'm also glad I learned to drive a stick shift.

what's the point of doctors appointments when they make you wait a week?

*sits in a corner and chews painkillers (something I rarely do).

I think I have sinusitis, any tips for how to relieve the ugh feeling apart from pills and comfort food? :p
Do you have private emergency clinics there that you can go to? It's much cheaper than the hospital emergency room, but you can go in and be attended to immediately. I hope you start feeling better soon!

When I first enter the office, there are only three people here ─ and when I say three, I really mean two, as one of the guys is consistently and flagrantly late. My manager is one of the three, and this morning he had to leave the office briefly. The other guy is, of course, not here yet.

So I'm the only one in the building right now. I felt it appropriate to blast Unchained by Van Halen when I realized I was alone.
Oooooooh yeah! So what I would do.

Well... I'd cue up Building 429 or Shachah... but yeah, same concept.

Hey! I think I just found the answer to one of my biggest problems: lack of free time.

In 600 BCE, famed mathematician Pythagorus dissected music as a science and developed the keystone of modern music: the octave scale. The importance of this event is obvious. Music was a passion of the Greeks. With their surplus of leisure time (thanks to slave labor) they were able to cultivate great artistic skills.
That's it! I need to employ slave labor. Anybody want to be my slave worker? (I'm looking at you Lynx. With you being a fellow computer guy, I think you'd make good.)

Even though I'm almost not expecting anything, I keep praying for God's provision.

No no NO Siberian! Supply and demand, supply and demand - if you increase supply then demand drops and so do prices. What are you trying to do, undercut my slave trade business? :p

oh man, i'm so sorry to hear this. if you have sinusitus or any sinus related grief here's what you can do at home:

1) HYDRATE your sinuses.

push fluids, pull out the humidifier, and irrigate your sinuses. all of those items thin the mucus and can potentially really help relieve the pressure, especially if you're already on the dehydrated side (which most people are).

do you have a neti pot??? that would be ideal. or if you have neither the humidifier nor neti pot, i would find some creative way to irrigate your sinuses if you're really in pain. i've heard of people using their turkey baster in a pinch. you can make a plain saline solution, with a smidgen of sea salt and warm water. i don't know if you've ever used a neti pot, but if you haven't, maybe you should google how to do that.

hint: make sure you're tipped over your sink and use warm water. trust me on both of those. : )

if you don't have any of those, maybe you could run a hot shower and spend some time in the steam there. the heat from the shower might relieve some of that pressure too.

btw, everyone should drink a MINIMUM of 1/2 oz. per lb of body weight. and even more if you're taking things like decongestants or drinking caffeinated beverages. since you use the metric system i'm going to roughly say, one liter per 30kg of body weight.

2) heat will help relieve the pressure on your sinuses. do you have a heating pad? mine is a heating pad that you can get the outer part wet and so that you can apply moist heat. you can also make your own "heating pad" with a knee sock and some legumes or rice (or whatever you have around). oh, and jasmine rice (if you have it) smells really good and is a very good filler. : )

3) avoid (or at least be judicious) with the decongestants and expectorants like guaifenesin and psuedophedrine. part of how they work is by creating a dehydrating effect. well, this is great if your lungs are rattling, but if you have pressure in your sinuses, i personally wouldn't take any of those things because they can really exacerbate your situation.

okay, that's all i have. i hope you feel better really soon.

p.s. since you made the comment about "chewing pain pills": if you're taking opiod based-pain meds: please be careful. they can actually have a slightly congesting effect PLUS they can depress your respiration system. so please be mindful of your prescribed dose, because i know how easy it is to bend the limits when your pain is really bad. and if you're at that point, i think you should go to the ER/urgent care.

i also agree with grace--you should get some medical care. but in the meantime, praying for you and hoping that helps. : )

I'll buy you out with chocolate, then. How many pounds of chocolate will it require to make a deal? :D

So I was thinking philosophically. Death is often taken by society and culture as bad but death is like god. Everything in life is done because of death. All our defining moments every thing gains a power by death. Gods power is partly due to death. But on the bright side with the lord we never die. just thoughts.

well, i certainly understand where you're coming from. *hugs*

but if you're TRULY not expecting something, you might want to reconsider that prayer all together.

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. matthew 21:22

and i KNOW you know there are more than just this verse about how we should ask Him in believing faith.

food for thought. love you and praying for you. : )

p.s. i'd really love to see the aforementioned dinner menu you were working on yesterday. are you going to post it for us???

I find that death is perceived, more specifically, as loss. Loss can be devastating, tragic, painful, "bad."

Keep on thinking, Breeze. It's a great past time (maybe in moderation, :p). Do you ever read or study philosophy?

Let me go grab it, lol.

Spaghetti (I use spaghetti squash in place of noodles. :) Super good!)
Beef goulash (Even though the name is weird....the ingredients aren't. Though it does have bell pepper...)
Salmon and green beans (with bacon, because it's the only way people eat it around here). Baked potatoes or sweet potatoes with it.
Roast beef with veggies such as carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower.
Shepherd's pie (because I love it. I always put carrots and celery in, no corn.)
Another dish with a weird name I can't spell but looked good so I'm having everyone try it.
Pizza. Gotta have something normal on the menu. Can't have everyone going in shock over the new menu. LOL. I'll try and attempt to make a cauliflower crust with this.
Chicken and dumplings. My sister and I make a gluten free version, though I can guarantee there will be a non gluten free version of this made, too.
Hamburgers (unsure of a veggie to go with this.)
Chicken and noodle soup. I put in carrots and celery in mine, and it tastes soooooo good. It will be made gluten free, too.
Steak with green beans (with Bacon) and homemade fries. The French fries I make are not really greasy. I use two or three tablespoons of olive oil and they get broiled in the oven on parchment paper in a pan or on a baking sheet. They get put on a paper towel afterward to absorb the extra grease.

Not low fat by any means, but gluten and mostly dairy free, yes. :D And veggies! They're present, too.

This is not the average menu for my family. But I'm tired of the same things over and over. I swear there was one point where we had tacos three times and pizza three times in two weeks.

The short answer is no. I hope that you don't have to go outside in the snow and cold. Memories of Maine are coming back to me. My favorite is from 4 years ago when I slipped on the ice and broke my right arm. I have said a prayer for you to stay safe and warm. It is a little chilly in Florida today but my hoodie is clean.
