In all honesty, I've seen some canned food sold for people that looks worse than cat food.

Potted meat food product... it has to use the word food in the title. And then there is the imitation spam. I enjoy spam, but the imitation stuff is really just fatty gelatin of some sort or another.
I can't believe all that happens to food. The syrup that you buy at stores is only 2% maple syrup....the rest is basically water and corn syrup.

that's because it's IMITATION syrup, not actual 100% maple syrup..it's basically just flavoring, like you said.. I'll send you some Vermont maple syrup, and you'll definitely taste the difference.. :)

By change of diet, I hope you don't mean eat dogfood.... I know someone who did that on accident before....don't try it.
Alpo is not bad. Don't buy the store brand - only name brand. Beggin Strips are good for BLT's.
I've heard of this one lady who was in line at Wal-Mart with a bag of dog food, and the guy behind her asked, "Oh do you have a dog?"

Um... yeah. Well it had been a long day and she was already feeling a bit snarky so she replied, "No, I'm going back on the Alpo diet." She explained that this diet (which she made up as she told it) was to keep a bag of alpo nuggets in her purse and snack on them when she got hungry. "They have all the nutrition you need" she said.

The man asked why she was going BACK on the diet. "Well I was on it for a while, but then I had to go to the hospital."

The man asked, "Why, was the dog food bad for you after all?"

She said, "No, I got hit by a car when I stopped in the middle of the road to scratch behind my ear." :p

Hmm... potted meat. I was discussing chitlins with this old guy at work and he mentioned potted meat. His opinion was potted meat was cream of chitlins. Doesn't faze me, I never eat the stuff anyway.

I heard this exact conversation between two people one night when I was working....the person believed it and ended up buying dog food to try...he came back the next day and told me it tasted awful and never take that other guys advice.....The manager was so confused

Looking forward to a weekend of pure culinary hedonism, which may or may not include:

* a burger and fries
* beverages I usually never allow myself to consume (meaning pop, milkshakes, and the Frappucino I plan on buying when I go into work tonight)
* jap chae
* omelet and pancakes swimming in syrup
* peanut M&M's and original Pringles, and possibly peach gummy rings (heavenly!)
* rum raisin ice cream

I know that to most, this will probably seem like just an ordinary day! But for someone who often subsists on fruit, oatmeal, egg whites, and spinach, this is a gourmet feast to the max!!!! (And I'll even have half a day to recover.)

Can't. Wait. :)

It's kinda sad and crazy how this song is still relevant today, even though it's from the Vietnam era…

Aw, thank you for asking Cat. :) Believe me, I was an absolute culinary HEATHEN. I WOULD answer but I'm too busy... being immobilized on the couch!!!

Here's the tally:

* burger with American cheese, mushrooms, and fries
* one Coca-Cola
* one Sprite
* one hot chocolate
* shrimp alfredo
* angel hair pasta with marinara sauce and shrimp
* not one, but TWO kinds of japchae with shredded beef (yum yum yum)
* rum raisin ice cream (GLUTTONY!!!)
* coffee ice cream
* CANDY!!!! chocolate raisins, peach gummy rings, JELLYBEANS (lemon are my favorite--I would wrestle the Easter bunny--and hordes of small children over their Easter baskets for them)
* blueberries (to make it all healthy, of course!

The collateral damage: scale reads at about 3 pounds heavier.

Sigh. This morning it's back to egg whites and spinach. BUT, it was SSSOOOO worth it. :D

I am happy that you gave your diet a well-deserved break. :)

Now, DROP AND GIVE ME 20!!!!

That's for making me hungry reading that long list...

MisterMysterious: It's kinda sad this one is still relevant too. From abortion to neglect to the bomb, all this song mentions is still a problem. All we have to do to update this song is change "Will we live till 1990" to "Will we live till 2020."

seoulsearch: That sounds like a good weekend's worth of meals. But were I there you probably would not have gotten any of the blueberries. And I would have sneaked the american cheese out and replaced it with some havarti or colby before you ate the burger.

On the topic of food... there's this elder widow lady at church that our family kind of adopted after her husband died. She comes over for thanksgiving and christmas, she's at the table when we go out to eat somewhere, etc. Occasionally she invites us all over for supper after church, and last night was one of those occasionallys. Reuben sandwiches with corned beef (the real thing, not that canned stuff) swiss cheese and sauerkraut, on large slices of rye, grilled to perfection. I didn't get to bed last night at the usual time because I was still digesting, but it was worth it.

I can send you some maine maple syrup, I can't go back to imitation.
Or I could get you some Ohio maple syrup! Good stuff.

By saying that it's from another state, is that supposed to make it sound better?

I don't know, but we should have a blind taste test of maple syrup.

Hi guys. :D

I was at church aaaaallll day yesterday. 10 am - 10 pm. >.< It was a good day, though. Next Sunday will be even better. Gonna see some friends I haven't seen in a while.

Easter Sunday, however, I will not be looking forward to. I know, shame on me, the sinner for saying I don't look forward to it. But I will be waking up at 6 am to do praise and worship for the church's sunrise service, and we'll be playing a bunch of hymns (I don't mind some hymns...but...I'm not the biggest fan). I think I will forever have The Old Rugged Cross stuck in my head (I practiced that for a good hour or so yesterday). -_-

I shall instead play this song on loop.
