Just watched "American Sniper"... I felt so sad for all our returning soldiers, and how hard it must be to return to civilian life.

The scene where Chris Kyle takes out an enemy sniper long-range and gives away their location reminds me of a letter I received from a soldier once (I used to write letters through the site AnySoldier.com) who was ranting about the Iraqi soldier he had been paired up with on patrol who kept using his cell phone.

The soldier who wrote me kept saying the light from that phone was putting targets on both their backs. I wrote other soldiers whose job was disarming IED's. I can't imagine living in that mindset everyday and then coming back "home" and trying to have a "normal" life.

And back at my old job, there was a young co-worker (who joined the military) and he and his partner stopped a suicide bomber before it reached their army base, saving about 40 other soldiers but taking his life a mere 8 months after he'd just gotten married.

Sigh. The feeling of helplessness is what I hate most.

Gonna get up early to pray.

Has anyone here ever resented a person through no fault of that person?

Ugh, how revealing this is. I'm a horrible creature.
Been there done that. Although we may have to define what does or does not constitute a fault. Does crowding my space on a crowded bus count as a fault, because sometimes I get the urge to punch people who do that (I haven't yet, but just saying that would be a very bad time to try to engage me in conversation). But I'll agree with the others siberian, I think it just means you are human. And there's no requirement to think everyone is wonderful all the time (After all, by virtue of being human they aren't always wonderful, they're sinful).

The air conditioner in my bedroom was doing nothing to cool it down in here. So I've been laying here for half an hour, tossing and turning and roasting, and getting really irritated that the dang thing wasn't doing its job. Then I had the strange suspicion that it was a little tooooo quiet in here. I don't know how I didn't notice earlier.

Yeah, stuff works better if you actually turn it on first.

Whyyyyy am I like this?! Now it's hard to sleep because I keep laughing at myself. Also because I'm typing. Actually, no, typing has never interfered with me falling asleep before. It's the laughing. Or the cat claws in my leg. Giddaway, kittybeast!

Times like this, I have to remind myself that I once drove off the road because I was looking at clouds. And that I forgot how to use the windshield wipers during a downpour. And that those incidents have nothing to do with each other, except for the fact that sometimes I just can't remember how to drive while I'm driving. There was a point to this...oh! I'm just saying, it could be worse. I could be behind a steering wheel and driving down the highway and suddenly realize I haven't even started the car yet. This little a/c episode is totally small potatoes compared to that.

I think the real problem I'm having with getting to sleep is that I'm not even tired. There's nothing on TV. There's nobody awake. There aren't even any cows to tip (but why would I do that anyway? Cows don't need money. What would they buy? Shoes? Milk? A cheeseburger? That's just sick. Quick, somebody revoke my internet priveleges (and teach me how to spell that word)).

Oh, sweet...64 degrees. Now I can sleep.
