I just woke up from a nap. I have that weirdly groggy feeling.
I'm about to take a nap myself.

I'm soooo tired. I went over to my grandparent's house today. My cousin, and his and his wife's 3 kids, two aunts and two uncles, a puppy, and a kitten were there. I had a blast with the puppy and kitten. The kitten was just 8 weeks old. It had crawled in my cousin's car, underneath the engine and somehow survived all the way over to my grandparent's house. It was a little stowaway. A LUCKY stowaway at that. That little one probably does have 9 lives. Then again it was so small...I can see how it could have survived. And the puppy is my grandma and grandpa's. Their dog unexpectedly died in April, and I guess last week, Grandpa decided to drive 2.5 hours in the pouring rain, "JUST to look" at the puppies. He ended bringing one home. She's 9 weeks old and super adorable. Such a little sweetheart.

Under the category of Things I'm Glad Are Not My Job...

My husband got to come home early, but just long enough to pack a bag of camping/rafting gear. The local Search and Rescue team got called out to a remote section of the river (a rapid I ran myself a few years ago) in order to recover a body and return it to the family.

I get sad just hearing about this stuff. I can't really separate "the body" from the living, breathing human being they were...whoever they were. I start imagining an entire life, a grieving family.

I dunno. I have the utmost respect for the men and women in this world who are brave enough to face these things and worse and still wake up each day to help someone else. I would fall apart.

I leaned a new word today:

indigent
ˈɪndɪdʒ(ə)nt/

adjective: indigent

  • 1.
    poor; needy.
"a charity for the relief of indigent artists"

synonyms:
poor, impecunious, destitute, penniless, impoverished, poverty-stricken, down and out, pauperized, without a penny to one's name, without two farthings/pennies to rub together

I rarely sleep anymore... is that healthy? I seem to be doing fine. Although about once every other week I pass out for about 12 hours and then I'm good to go again. I lose my train of thought quite often... maybe I think of too many things at once. I read into words, gestures, and body language too much. Why did she look at me like that? Why did he say that? What was I talking about again? *reads post again* Oh yes, "streams of consciousness and thoughts"... I wonder if there will be watermelon in heaven. I wonder if I've already met my future husband. *thinks long and hard about everyone my life* Hmmm... interesting. Let's not worry about that anymore. Oh look, squirrel!

You might be able to comfort her, Evie ... really often people will listen to and accept the consolations of someone who's been through the same thing.

*prays that as much good as possible will come out of the sad, horribly painful situation*
